Connolly:

- a sad excuse for a vet
- dosnt work harder than he needs to
- is known as tiny tim for a reason
- needs to go, and fast.

Hes not "terrible"....hes just really not good for this team.

- noename09

If he doesnt work hard, how is it that hes such a good defensive forward? Connolly is a slow skater, that doesnt mean hes not a hard worker. Leaf fans have this horrible tendancy to pick a player and then everyone agrees that he sucks without ever having a reason. Look, hes over paid, but that is the price of a guy who can score 60 points when you only give him 2 years. Its not like his salary is preventing them from getting other players. The ONLY reason fans dont like him is because they expected a ppg first line centre.

Aulie was the best d-man on the ice in game 4, set up 2 and hammered guys. Ashton got labelled, was probly the worst forward on the marlies. Sorry to offend all you lovers of crappy trades.

Judging by your posts, you played a high level of hockey when you were 10, which was 2 years ago.

Even if you played in the NHL it doesnt necessarily mean you know more about hockey than a well educated fan. I have known guys who are great players but wouldnt watch a game on tv if you paid them.

The old, "I played the game at a high level so I know more than you do" has to be one of the worst arguments you can make.

the highest i got was a major select team that had torres and ziggy on it. i didn't bring it up to brag i was just trying to explain that its not about me loving the guy, just think he's going to be good, then guys jump on you. There are a few guys in here that do that all the time. If it isn't their criticism they try to get you to argue over dumbness instead of the actual issue. my point is that this club continues to mis-judge talent.

I don't even think BobMac played a high level of hockey, if he played hockey at all.

And I agree, that's the kind of arguments 10 year olds make lol

i don't think i know more, jbold wasn't even debating he was just being a douche. Telling me i can't discuss past trades. It wasn't meant to try and be "the man" or anything.

So, we're supposed to listen to you, and believe your opinion, because you played at a high level of hockey?

Playing at a high level of hockey doesn't mean you have a better eye for talent than others.

Nope. I'm using it as an example to destroy you.

I was comparing you to Bobmac, and explaining that since you played a high level of hockey (Doubt it), that you must know more than him.

He obviously has talent and size but he chooses when to use it. Can the Leafs really afford to rebuild around a guy like that and take that risk? The Leafs shouldn't gambling with this pick. It's too important. They need something safer.
- Unholy_Goalie

Yes we need to take the risk, he is too good not too. If either of galy or grigs are left at 5 we should take them.

Is this a serious response? Because here I was assuming that everyone who would bother to waste time debating hockey on the internet knew that plus/minus is a fake stat that proves less than nothing.

Tim Connolly could have been a minus 100 and it wouldnt give any indication of whether or not he was a good defensive forward.

Quick lesson: plus minus means nothing because if you are the best defensive forward on your team, you are going to be going against the other teams top offensive forwards nearly every time you are on the ice. Also, if your goalie sucks, your coach doesnt stress defense and you lose more games than you win, you will be a minus player.

Are you joking?
Connolly has no work ethic. He stopped playing after he realized he wasn't on the first line.

I mean, if he was a -100, it's pretty obvious that something is wrong with him.

You can compare his +/- stat to his other teammates. If everyone on the team has a good +/- stat, and he has a terrible one, than it's okay to judge and assume he's not that great in a defensive role.

But I agree, its best not to judge a player based on their +/-
