I'd suggest Stoll but he is likely out of their salary range. - ob18
XM Home Ice had a few guys that said he's going to win the "Guy that gets most overpaid this summer award" |

that will for sure put him further out of their grasp. |

yup, it's why I keep suggesting staying at 20 is the best move. JVR would likely get them to the top 10 maybe close to top 5. - ob18
I could see him getting moved to the Wild for the 6th overall... |

I like Stoll as well just not sure he's willing to be a 4th line center either. |

Trading JvR would allow them to add another young player but also free up money to make another move. Interesting move. Think the Flyers would be willing to make that kind of move? |

As Butsy said on twitter: Re-sign Carle and Jagr, trade Bob to move up in draft or add picks, go after Barrett Jackman & Marty Biron in UFA, viola - Jsaquella
I'm fine with staying pretty much pat and adding a UFA 4th line center and a D man. But Jackman doesn't excite me for what I believe we need. Wideman and then Garrison would be more appealing if we can afford them. I like the Bob suggestion, I agree it might not get us very far. I don't want to trade him just to trade him. It needs to make sense. |

I could see them moving him but not to just move up in the draft and get nothing else back.
But I'm going to stick with minor tweaks and sitting at #20. But I'll also expect them to do the opposite. |

Would be nice to have a right handed defenseman on this roster. |

The Flyers are probably the most unpredictable team in the NHL when it comes to offseason moves. |

I think so. Depends what the pick is and who is still on the board. I beleive theyll exhaust every option to trade him for a D man first tho. |

I'm tired of all these big moves, it has yet to produce a cup, it's time to stop that approach in my eyes and try something else. - ob18
I totally understand wanting to be patient and charting a course and sticking to it. But I have to make an exception for Weber. Do you have any doubts that the Flyers are going to try and make a big move?

Stoll excelled once he was moved into that 3rd line Center spot. Sign him to a big deal, and expect more then that. And maybe he disappoints.

Agreed. The Flyers see a NEED and attack it. Sometimes its a good thing and sometimes not. |

guys, please....just stop all the Dom Moore talk. everyone knows the only way to acquire him is to trade a 2nd round pick for him at the deadline. have you learned nothing these past 2, err 3 years?!? i think it might actually be in the cba... |

Lou Nanne, - Jsaquella
Honestly, I dont know enough about him. He says he knows the guys in Minnesota which I do not know. Not sure if he is full of it or not but I'll take his word for it. |

Nanne is Mr Minnesota Hockey. I wouldn't doubt him. I was just thinking of his great quote about Mike Modano and Link Gaetz.
Nanne was GM of the North Stars, and had the top pick in 1988. He took Modano with it, and then took the rowdy Gaetz in round two.
Years later, after Gaetz had been out of the league and exhibited strange behavior and battled bottle problems, Nanne said of his draft:
"We took Mike in the first round to protect the franchise. We took Link in the second round to protect Mike. We should have taken a lawyer in the third round to protect Link." |

I think guys seeing Nash stuck on a bad team because of his cap is going to deture guys like Parise taking the biggest paycheck... - hereticpride
The thing is, Parise's a Minnesota guy, grew up there and lives there in off season. |

Yeah, but is he that homesick? I think he'd much rather find the team he's best suited to win with. And the Wild isn't that team. The hometown card gets tossed out way too much when it comes to free agency in my opinion. |

Great blog as usual Bill. Thanks for the tidbit about Hoyda, and the clip of his fight with Wensink.
For those who may not know anything about Wensink, that dude was certifiably insane. I had the "pleasure" of watching him play for the Rochester Amerks when I was a kid. At that time the Amerks were the Boston minor league affiliate, and none other than Don Cherry himself was the coach.
Wensink was his favorite goon, and he used him to great effect. During one game we attended, Wensink almost killed a Nova Scotia Voyageurs defenceman named Len Cunning. He beat beat him senseless, then fell on him after he was down, grabbed the guys head, and started pounding it against the ice like he was beating a drum. To this day it is the worst display of on-ice goonery I have ever witnessed. He got a whopping 10 game ban for that. He was also a notorious biter. Perhaps his most famous biting incident was his biting then Nova Scotia defenseman Brian Engblom three times in the face and neck during three separate fights. Finally, after the THIRD TIME, he was suspended for 20 games.
Quite a guy that Mr. Wensink. - BringBack25
The good old days of Amerks hockey when Don Cherry saved the franchise.
I remember, as a boy, listening to that game.

Why would we need a 4th line center? I'm sure Couturier could start the season there and Talbot could possibly end the season there. Heck, maybe Talbot could play the entire season on the 4th line. I like him best as a winger but I would wait out the ideas on the 4th line. |
