Don't be naive.
- RooNosHockey

Naive you're the one being naive and have a lot to learn about evidence. I worked in the legal system for several years let me tell you what I learned, believe nothing you hear and half of what you see.

edit: if there was some actual proof a credible journalist would have ran with it. Since there is not they aren't and therefore won't risk their careers by being sued of defamation which WIP already was once by the flyers for such a thing.

HUH!? how do you know they mock players based in truth? Hanging in what scene? the night scene? A lot of athletes hang in that scene, hardly enough to go an say they are using drugs. I find that to be completely ridiculous. To start indicting people based on hearsay (rumors) is bullpoop. I do believe there were off ice issues. Such as being disruptive in the locker room that's been reported on by credible journalists, but I have seen nothing credible about drug use. An opposing player mocking one guy is a far cry from evidence.
- JoeRussomanno

Hmm. Because if the mock is completely untrue, how is it going to get under the other players skin? It would be like calling a skinny guy fat... Ohhh that really pisses me off. How dare you call me fat.

That is in the court of law. In the court of public opinion there is no such thing as innocent until proven guilty. If it was just random writers, or an occasional fan saying they were, it would be one thing. When another player mocks them by snorting coke off a stick.... thats pretty damning...
- RooNosHockey

Sure there is. I guess that depends on what your willing to believe and take as being the truth.

WHo says it did get under his skin? Even if it did doesn't prove anything other than Richards doesn't like being made fun of. There actually are skinny people who don't like being called fat. Look up anorexia and bulimia. Now who's being naive?

They mock players based somewhat in truth... and objectively speaking, it is more likely then not that when hanging in the scene Richards and Carter are known to have frequented, that certain drugs tend to "pop" up. I know. I have been in that crowd, and participated in...well.... Lets just say I find it more likely they were involded in something. I'm not saying they are addicts, or that it's an everyday thing for them.... but most rumors are founded in some kind of truth... except maybe the ones you find on HB..
- RooNosHockey

Most rumours are founded in some kind of truth? Seriously? That's hysterical.

No it doesn't but to sit here and say the guy was traded because he had a drug issue is completely bogus and completely unfounded.

Joe, I'm with you. And I'm cool with that being said. To me it goes directly to credibility. Which was the main reason for asking the question.

Hey, I'm not condeming them for it. I dont care if they did a bump or 2 off some hot chicks rear. It really doesnt bother me. More power to them. I just think its plausable they did. Whether or not its the reason they were traded, who knows and at this point who cares?

I just won't sit here and tolerate things being thrown around like that. I know we don't see eye to eye on the reasons why Richards and Carter were traded, but because one guy makes a joke in a competitive environment when he has every reason to humiliate his opponent is in no way shape or form a reason for me to believe he was traded for said reason or that he in fact has a drug problem. If anything it's an exaggeration of what has been reported and that Richards and Carter party and drink. I know that the term party is slang for using drugs cocaine in particular but to take it to that level is wrong when there is nothing to substantiate these claims. NOTHING and I won't entertain that notion until something solid other than hearsay is presented.

oh well excuse us. Don't have to be so condescending. They were the faces of our franchise until june of last year and just hoisted the cup. It is actually pretty relevant considering that they were mentioned in the blog just this very day by the blog writer and not those guys you mentioned so there But it is old and I would appreciate some common courtesy other than shut up.
- JoeRussomanno

It's not relevant. Their not Flyers anymore. Everyone should be happy for them. Their good players and they deserve it. Multiple pages of re-opening their situation prior to their leaving here, whether we should have traded them or not, etc, is old. Period.

I didn't mean for it to sound offensive btw. It's just really (frank)ing old.

There is still nothing to substantiate that and it is a hard accusation to levy against someone with nothing to prove it.

Are you thier lawyer, or just the prez of the richy and cartys fan club. Who cares if people think they did drugs. Does that make them a bad person? I've done a crap load. Does that make me a bad person?

As a matter of fact I find it offensive that you think everyone that does drugs is making some kind of mistake and they are horrible for it....

So you think it is okay to accuse two people, let alone players of doing drugs? Without any concrete proof?

No I'm not their lawyer in fact I'm far from it. I've been very vocal for my relief in seeing them go, however I'm not going to entertain complete nonsense about them to serve my purpose. That's just low in my book. As for the second part of that, I think you are doing to me what you accuse others of in here and this putting words in my mouth.

My objection was with people suggesting that the Philadelphia Media made up things about Richards and Carter and that they were just out to get them.

I know I am feeling dirty for partaking in this. Just see people making up stuff and some of them posters that I regard in a rather high fashion.
