What would we be talking about if the Kings didn't make the playoffs?? - Jimmygrazz
What were people talking about before the kings made the playoffs? Still those two bums. It's a shame because I almost hate them now simply from reading the endless back and forth about them in here. |

My biggest concern is getting better defensively as a team...

Do you have proof that the media is biased or has an agenda? I don't see it. Why would the media be out to get Richards or Carter? How would it benefit the media to lie about them? Do you know why there are so many stories, in the media, about what a great guy Ian Laperrier is? Because he's great guy. - Dkos
I'd say that the article where Carchidi labeled Richards "Captain Whine" is a good place to start.
But do I have any direct proof that I can offer here, no I don't. But that's my opinion |

It's gotten worse than stale, and it's polarized to the point that one must either completely believe or completely disbelieve the speculation on their off-ice behavior and it's results. Then cue the accusations of drinking the kool-aid or puffing the fun, etc. Yawn. |

I think for just about everyone there's a huge disappointment factor. I remember the ECF's series against the Penguins and thinking how a cup was in our near future. Two years later we go out and get Pronger end up in the Finals two games shy of the goal. Then last season pronger goes down and this team just can't seem to find itself in the second half. Yet we still had Carter and Richie but the team went into a tailspin, just squeaking by Buffalo only to be the only team not to register a win in a series against Boston. Then that one hot summer afternoon...
I didn't want to believe that my favorite player on the team was passively aggressively staging a mutiny against the Coach. I wanted to believe those two were going to be the captain and co-captain of cup here I think everyone else did too. The three years from 2008 to 2011 was a rollercoaster that is going to take a long time for people to get over. A lot similar to the late 80's losing in 7 to edmonton with a conn smythe/vezina winning goalie, yet only to see him and a good chunk of that regime get traded away with no cup. It's really going to take some people a while to let it go. |

It is the same but the adjustment period doesn't happen in the second half of the season it happens when you first get there, as in the case of Bryzgalov, it's been noted a number of times in this very blog thread how he was one the better goalies in the second half in contrast to his first half. - JoeRussomanno
I think based on his point totals for the Season, Richards didn't exactly set the World on fire during the regular Season in LA. |

Here's what I said
I stated that Carter's winning of the Cup had a lot more to do with the team he was traded to than his own individual value to his team. You read into that and inferred that I was minimizing Carter's role on L.A. I did not do that. - phantasm
In my opinion that is exactly what your saying when you go on to say that it was more about the team that Carter was on, and then mention the positive impact that Couturier and Voracek had on the Flyers. Giving equal footing would be stating and recognizing Carter's positive impact on LA. |

Anyone think that one of the "Top 6 Forwards" Eklund is reffering to is Hartnell? Could Hartnell waive his NTC for Nashville, and would Nashville want him back? |

You mean I was supposed to be bereft to see Richards carry the cup just a couple of months after rumors had him fighting Brown for control of the room at the time he himself wasn't exactly contributing (wondering if he'd ever score another goal, he said). Brown won, and the team won, and Richards seems to have figured out that he's just one cog in the wheel. I'm not sure he was ever going to figure that out here.
And I'm glad for Carter. That he had a relatively healthy postseason and showed that he isn't a playoff bust. I can't really feel bad for any Flyers fan who spent a few years dogging the guy for not being a cyborg warrior. That doesn't mean I don't think less of him for being so completely unprofessional about the trade, even though I certainly understand not wanting to go to Columbus in the first place.
The only thing that had me cringing was knowing that people who don't know a puck is made from vulcanized rubber, including the so-called sports media here, were going to make ridiculous statements about their "leading" the Kings to a cup and the Flyers having made a mistake getting rid of them. I don't see it as a mistake. And most knowledgeable hockey fans (and media, like Bill) don't either. - bodiva88
I've actually stopped listening to WIP conmpletely outside of Glen's show and now listen to Sirius Radio. my life and sanity if better because of it |

I can't go that far. That's a strong accusation that you do need more proof on. |
