In the end it doesn't mean sweet (frank) all if you never win the cup.

still don't see a quote, just speculation.

i also don't see where it was said he was going to play behind Koivu. i only see where it says that Gainey wouldn't let him dictate his linemates, which was maybe not the right call but certainly understandable.

Unless there is a direct quote attributed to Briere, Gainey, or specifically someone else who was part of the negotiations, this is all just speculation and hearsay.

It was from an article by Mathias Brunet. Maybe you won't trust him because he has a French name, but he's still pretty reliable.

I don't trust any report that use "unnamed sources" - especially in sports, and even moreso, especially in sports in Montreal, where self-publicity tends to be more important than the truth.

It is pure speculation. Briere was never interested in playing for the Habs and was eying Philadelphia way before July 1st.

Speaking of speculation, gotta love Bertrand Raymond

Well, then, you don't trust ANY journalist, don't you?

I don't remember Bob McKenzie naming his sources.

Am I missing something today? We have a ton of support for french players who snubbed the Habs... and now we have some love for the french media who's normally viewed as a cancer...
