I am being told (Frenchie) that Scrivens should be the favourite to start for Canada in 2014 - Symba007
yes but besides that its a toss up between those three. I ordered them according to stanley cups and overall success to date but a lot can change in 1.5 seasons.
What, to you, defines a first liner? Because Desharnais was 22nd in points for a center last year. Cole was 16th in RW, and Pacioretty was 11th for the LW.
Might be a fluke year, but even if they regress, they are still in the top30 or close at their position in the NHL.
I think plek will have less time on the PK, with Dumont, Leblanc, Bournival getting a nod in the NHL. - QuebecPride
To me a "first liner" is somebody who still produces while facing solid competition. Unfortunately I cannot give the reference as I forget where I read it, but it was an analysis based on a players/line production based on the caliber of the players they were playing against.
Like I said, I think those 3 are a solid 2nd line, a VERY solid 2nd line actually, who you can be confident will produce if your 1st starts to fall behind. However, even based off of the type of hockey we seen in the playoffs this year, yeah they might challenge for a playoff spot, but pacc-des-cole would've been absolutely destroyed against a team like the rangers or kings. They are good, but this team is very far away in my opinion.
I do think so far we are on the right path with the prospects assuming they develop to their potential on the defense end. Amongst our forwards though, let's just say Bergevin has a lot of work to do. I'm actually excited to see what he can do with the staff he's assembled, and to hopefully see a season that isn't decimated by injuries.
