While PAP has done a good job, he doesn't deserve more than Matt Molson.

if he can do what he did this season.. next.. he deserves more.

I can't agree with that. Parenteau is a one-year wonder so far. The amount of assists he has the last two years is staggering. Good for his agent when it comes to bargaining, but he's not a finisher.

No but Matt Moulson has a bargain. Only 3 players have more goals than him the last 3 seasons I believe.

How come everyone says PAP is only good because of his time on JT's flank, but forget his production on the second line. No one ever points out the fact MM is the player he is.. because he plays on JT's line???

There have been great players that can coach their way out of a paper bag (#99 anyone?)
There is an old saying, those who cant.. become teachers. Dunham is perfect!

Hopefully he doesn't teach them to dehydrate themselves to the point of having their knees lock up in the middle of a critical game during a playoff push!

Although, that was a blessing for the Isles. Dunham played horribly after DP got hurt, and that was the game Dubie came in and settled things down. Heck, I don't care if we had no shot and got bounced quickly in the first round, that was a fun season and a good team to follow. Tough not to be won over by a team that worked as hard as that one.

Moulson scores a lot of garbage type goals. He can do that with anyone on his line. He's a lot like Tomas Holmstrom.
Parenteau, while I'm not exactly complaining about it, gets a lot of assists, which requires another player to finish for him. It's never a good sign when a guy can't score more than 15 or so goals and has 40/50 something assists. He's not the kind of player who can stand alone on his own. He's not exactly Adam Oates.

I would like to see us resign PaP, but I think whichever team gives him his 4/20 or whatever will regret it.

They are not cheap, the fake ones are expensive for God's sake. To me at least, granted i don't normally smoke cigars so they are expensive to me!

Cubans are overrated.

I blame the "forbidden fruit" factor. Hondouran and Dominican cigars are just as good, if not better.

I could live with a replacement who puts up fewer points than PA if that player brings some extra dimensions to the team...toughness along the boards, or leadership, or net presence, or responsible play in the neutral/defensive zones. For all his points, those are qualities PA lacked (except for maybe the leadership part...I wouldn't know). He is an intelligent playmaker, no doubt, but I think we have a number of those, both on the team and in the pipeline.

I find this interesting too? The weird thing is i find myself questioning just how good he is even when i was impressed with his play especially towards the end last year. I have no idea why? On that note I still believe he should be signed, we can't afford to lose those points!

Not sure, you are right. PAP was almost as productive playing with Neilson and poopston

Never had a Cuban cigar, but this is the second time in five days I've heard virtually the same exact thing said about them.

I also think Moulson would be productive wherever as well. Guy cleans up in front of the net. Doesn't take a superstar to produce rebounds

I buy them when I'm in Miami or whatever island I'm at and usually I'm not in the best of shape when i do so. The hangovers are always extra special when I smoke cigars the night before.

A Romeo y Julieta Dominican cigar is my go-to cigar. The Montecristos are good, too. IMO, Dominicans are the best.

Actually, over two seasons, he played in 161 games, 38 goals and 82 assists for 120 points. that's two years of solid production.

People keep saying "he only scores because he plays with JT". Assuming that's even correct, so what? The point is, he's developed significant chemistry with the team's franchise forward on the top line to the tune of 120 points over two seasons. He's durable, he seems to be liked in the room. Why risk letting that walk away and hoping you find that same chemistry with someone else being plugged into that spot? Not saying they should go up to or even over $5M, but I have no problem with him making more than Moulson at $4M or so per year on a 3 or four year deal. Moulson will get his payday again in two summers, especially if he keeps scoring 30 goals/season.

I think we would all rather have PAP than not. Who cares what we pay him. They have to get to the floor anyway and I'd rather see kids like rakshani, ulstrom, cizikas on the team instead of another rolston or pandolfo situation where they are here just to create payroll. The team will be better with younger players playing 3rd and 4th line minutes instead of washed up crap.

Nielsen and Bailey -- I don't think they can put up the points PA did, but I think they bring the same style game on offense. Tavares is another that's certainly an intelligent playmaker, although he brings a heck of a lot more than that. In the pipeline, Strome is the name that jumps out immediately, and to a lesser extent, Rakhshani, and further away, if he ever does make the NHL, Kabanov.

This is not to say I'm happy PA may walk for nothing. I think at this point the Isles might as well give him more money than he's asking for in exchange for fewer years, maybe two. But if he is gone, I'd rather the team go get a player that brings some different skills to the table even if he doesn't put up quite as many points. A player that puts up maybe 50+ points scoring 23 goals by skating well and powering to the net, causing chaos in front is I think more valuable to overall team success than PA putting up 67 points firing passes from the perimeter.
