What would you guys say to a deal like this?
To Islanders: 1st Rounder 2012, Franson, Scrivens
To Toronto: Ryan Strome
*** Thus you get to draft ryan murray, matt dumba, franson NHL defender more than decent, and a goalie that dominated the AHL - Mapleleafs_91
Interesting Trade to be sure but a few things that would prevent the Isles from making this trade.
1. They love Strome. He works out with JT and Moulson in off season and they really like his work ethic, attitude, skill level..etc. The reached a little when drafting him b/c of all these facts. They talked to JT about him a lot and he was actually trying to talk them into drafting him instead of the big D-man (Dougie Hamilton). While I think they would have taken Larsson if he fell to 5.. once he was gone they took Strome.
2. This sounds crazy given our NHL goalie issues last 4 years but the Islanders do not need another goalie "prospect". They have Poulin, Nillson and even Koskinen as goalie propects. If you were talking about a NHL Goalie (schneider, Rask, etc.)... totally different conversation. Another prospect I don't see it.
Your first rounder and Schenn might get you one of our other Centers.. Brock, Lee, etc. don't see them parting with Strome.

That is true though if you drafted both dumba and murray then you have no need to worry about defense for a while and i highly doubt montreal takes forsberg over grig, forsberg is a bigger ? than grig i would say... hasnt really produced in statistics but has upside. My opinion you guys need defence bad, drafting both murray and dumba would be insane in a good way.
Murray Dumba
Streit Hamonic
Macdonald Katic ? Thats looking better - Mapleleafs_91
if the isles did the deal you proposed, id look to trade down that 5th pick and get an established dman and a mid 1st for the 5th and another prospect...try to get a body like reinhart or ceci

Well xXx named us the rascals so I don't see why adding wolfpac to the list of names would hurt? |

i dont see how forsberg is the pick....1) he isnt a defenseman 2) apparently he needs a solid 3 years of development 3) id rather have yak, grig, gal, murray, dumba.... - LetsGoIsles
When it comes to the draft nothing would surprise me. I would also take the players you mentioned over Forsberg. |

I don't see this happening either. Unless it's an incerdibely lopsided deal(in the Isles favor of course)or theres something going on with Strome we are unaware of. I'm excited to see how his camp goes. I wouldn't be happy if they traded him UNLESS it was for a serious upgrade. |

i think youre severely overvaluing the isles prospects.

Strome from all clips I have seen of the kid looks like the real deal. He is a sniper, can skate, has grit... he looks like the dynamic type of center you desperately need on this team's second line. My only reservation is his size but he is still filling out...etc. I don't see Strome getting chances alone in front of the net and not being able to convert them all the time (Hi Nino). or on break aways failing to score (Hi Grabner). |

The only way I see Strome going is if he's part of a package deal for a legit #1 "D" man. Or an elite veteran forward. Someone still in their 20's, 30 at best who's got plenty of game left and is willing to sign long term with us.
So I guess Strome is staying put. |

These are the things I would look for if we are trading Strome. I would rather not move him for another prospect or pick. |

I think Forsberg would be a great pick for an established team. But in 3-4 yrs when Forsberg is likely ready to get a look at the NHL. I want the Isles to be set and settled for at least a few years. Not looking to add a rookie to the line up. Looking to compete. |

SCLI are you saying we are not an established team? You know how much I like the name Forsberg and any hockey player with the name Forsberg has to be a star. |
