It seems from your postings that Murray won't be there at #4. If that is the case I think they need dto move up 2 spots and somehow get Columbus' pick. How about our #1 and our #3 pick to move up two spots...
- kear20

If Murray is off the board, the Isles should think of moving back a couple of spots to snag Dumba or Reinhart. If they can't make that work, they should just take the best player available at #4. Unless its only going to take a 3rd rounder & #4 to move up to #2 (which I doubt), I don't want to give up what it would take to move up two spots, despite how much I think Murray is the perfect selection for this team this summer.

Would suck to see ryan murray not make it to 4th, in my opinion im basing it on team needs and i would hate to see the islanders not get murray when both columbus and montreal need forwards. Where in my opinon i can see grig or galchenyuk not taken, its a tough decision though i base it on what the teams really need. If you guys lose parenteau, thats a tough loss, despite the fact he should be encouraged to stay since he played so well with tavares and moulson

I don't see CBJ or MTL taking Murray. This is a big draft for CBJ. They are undoubtedly going to move Nash and their fans know it. In order to keep the fans optimistic, they need to draft a player that they can sell as an eventual replacement for Nash. A forward is an easier sell than a defenseman. Besides, CBJ's defense isn't morbid. One of the "G"'s (I can't spell their names) to team up with Johanssen for the next decade will be exciting for the fans to get behind. MTL doesn't need "D" as badly as they need a franchise center. The "G"'s fit that bill nicely.

I'm no expert, but unless someone moves up to #2 or #3 ahead of the Islanders in a trade with CBJ or MTL, I see Murray falling right into the Isles' laps.

Agreed. Murray, or Grigorenko if he's gone. If both are gone, trade back a few spots and take whoever's left out of the remaining players near the top of people's lists, adding some 2nd or 3rd round picks.

We'd probably miss out on Biff and end up with the guy in his gang who looks like he's wearing those old 3-D glasses.

That's the dude from the very underrated 80s movie "3 O'Clock High." Jerry. He beat the poop out of Buddy Ravelle and made out with his English teacher, so I'd take a flier on him.

The Difference between the Islanders and Edmonton:

So in summary:

- A Gardiner + 5th overall pick is a better deal for the Oilers in a couple of ways, because Gardiner looks to have more potential than Schenn, and Gardiner would increase their chances of signing UFA Schultz a few days later.

- The Leafs would be losers in this in the sense that they lose their best young D man, but they win in a big way when they get the 1st overall pick. Yakupov is a show-stopper, and he'd make a huge difference to the Leafs on a number of levels.

- What happens at the draft? Yakupov at #1 is a no-brainer. I've heard the Jackets are leaning towards Ryan Murray in #2, even though it makes no sense for them not to take a forward. There has been speculation for months that Filip Forsberg is the guy in Montreal, even though plenty of people will try to tell you it's between Grigorenko and Galchenyuk there. But I'm sticking with the Forsberg rumors I've been hearing for a long time. In #4, the Islanders will not draft a forward. Geez Louise, pappa cheese...I keep reading stuff about the Islanders taking another center. Hello, Tavares, Strome, and hot shot they just signed Brock Nelson. The last thing the Islanders need is another forward. They will take either Griffin Reinhart or Morgan Rielly at #4.

You know what that leaves the Oilers at #5? Mikhail Grigorenko or Alex Galchenyuk.

So what I'm saying is, the Oilers can walk away from the NHL Draft with Justin Schultz, Jake Gardiner and Alex Galchenyuk.

I think taking Reinhart or Morgan Rielly at #4 would be a mistake. Especially if Gally or Grigo are still on the board. I'm sure someone would be willing to deal for the 4th overall pick and we could move down and still get either Reinhart or Riley or Dumba or Trouba.

Indeed. Sounds like Forsberg might be the guy if Murray is gone.
- ses111

i dont see how forsberg is the pick....1) he isnt a defenseman 2) apparently he needs a solid 3 years of development 3) id rather have yak, grig, gal, murray, dumba....

VG article. You know. The more I read about these kids. The more I get.

I've seen Grigorenko ranked # 3 by Central Scouting #4 By ISS and ranked in the teens by some others.

11 days we'll get our answer.

Dumba scares me with the chance of breaking down with his size and his style of play. Reinhart would be very interesting if they move back. I'm really hoping Murray is the guy. Really fits a need.

What would you guys say to a deal like this?

To Islanders: 1st Rounder 2012, Franson, Scrivens

To Toronto: Ryan Strome

*** Thus you get to draft ryan murray, matt dumba, franson NHL defender more than decent, and a goalie that dominated the AHL

- Mapleleafs_91

this trade would have to be done...not sure why the leafs would do it but from an isles perspective it would be done
