If they are going to lose both Weber and Suter, then they aren't going to be looking to get offense back for Weber. They will go after a defenseman as the main piece of the deal.
- RooNosHockey

Possibly, or re-sign Suter or go hard after Wideman. There are a number of routes Nashville could pontentially take.

I think I mentioned Nashville resigning Suter.. and you laughed. Or were you laughing that the Flyers would want to replace offense dealt to Nash for weber by signing Parise...? Seems logical to me...

And where is your scenario that they are going to trade JVR for picks and sign both Suter and Parise, even though Suter has said he doesnt want to play for a big east team?
- RooNosHockey

I never posted that. That would be PLinds suggestion.

I don't think the Flyers are going to be signing two guys in the $70 million range this off-season, that's why I laughed.

Also, because of the Radulov inclusion. Don't think that's at all realistic.

Nash could insist we take him and then deal with him if we want weber.

Gaggsssssssssssssssss congrats man!!

Hexy, Kopitar, Quick, and Stevens, too.

In other, slightly somber news:

Lappy officially retired today.

Not that he hasn't been retired for the last few seasons, but it's still sad to see him officially hang it up. What a (frank)in hockey player he was. The true, textbook definition of a hockey player and a Flyer.

I want to see him coach the Phantoms so badly. Hell- I just want to see him within the organization.

Guy played one (frank)in season with the O&B- look at the mark he left. Incredible.

Forever a Flyer, in my eyes. One season or not.

Ek is saying Parise is top of the Flyers list. If that is true, then that definately means they are trading for a defenseman. There is no room for Parise on the current team. I think Weber might be a possibility.
- RooNosHockey

There is always room for a Parise on any team.

Not that I'm advocating the Flyers signing him. Because I don't think that's the biggest need.

has bigger, stronger, defensive oriented with great goaltending like LA and BOS replaced the skill, fast-paced, transition style like PIT or CHI ?

According to Leed, the ballpark cap hit on a new contract would be about $4.25 million for at least a three-year contract. Personally, I think it will be more in the $4.75 to $4.9 million range, but we'll see what happens.

If Leed is accurate I'll take that deal everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. However, I agree with your predicition range. Carle would be taken a pretty big dicount at that price but I guess sometimes you do that if you love where your at.

- stveshdy

I'd hope it's $4.25 but that probably won't happen.

God if Carle signed for that cap hit he would become an instant fan favorite.

Yeah, idiots. A vocal group of idiots. And that includes those in here who think that.

Anyone who thinks Matt Carle is a third pair d man knows NOTHING about hockey.

There's been a lot of talk about systems in here today. Remember when Stevens got fired, and Laviolette got hired. What was said? How much better this system is, and it's more aggressive, etc, etc. What happened to that? And Laviolette's great system? Now I'm reading Laviolette needs to change his system.
