I think I'd be happy to have him come back at the price of 1.2-1.8. But that's it. I'm not giving him more than that. The only reason I even start it at 1.2 is because that's what McCormick is making and I would think Gaustad would want at least that and probably deserves more than what McCormick is making anyway.

I don't think the Red Wings are gonna be winning a Cup for a least a few years. With Lidstrom retiring that leaves a really big question mark on their back end. Not to mention they're also without Stuart now as well. That D is about to get really young and I think that's going to expose Howard as a very average goalie.

His veteran presence is the part they'll miss. They currently only have 5 Dmen under contract for next year.
