You want the Flyers to pursue Parise. What do you think that's going to cost?
- MJL

I also want to pursue Brooke Burke personally but I think Brooke for me and Parise to the Flyers won't happen.

I don't know what Parise will cost. We'll see.

His cap hit was 6 mil per. I'm guessing.....more than that?

Per CSN Philly's Sarah Baicker, Holmgren said reason for delay in JvR surgery is infection in his foot and called speculation "way off base"
- Jsaquella

But wait, I just read how great Eskin is.

I used to listen here and there from work. You realize 3 things about Eskin very quickly

1) he is arrogant
2) he has good connections
3) outside of his connections, he knows very little about sports. Outside of Philly players, he is essentially clueless.

You trade for your NEED. The Flyers have a lot of offensive depth so you move some to upgrade defensively where they need help (Timonen and Pronger era ending/ended).
- stveshdy

yeah i think that's what i was saying...to help the club = NEED

He obviously has a source within the Flyers room, but this seems far fetched to me. I think it is despicable that the Flyers have a rat in their room that feeds Eskin information that should be confidential.

I see your points, but I don't see the D as big a need as others.

Grossmann and Coburn and Carle (assumption) and Mez look good to me.

As in life, its time for succession planning and let the kids step up.

I'm not advocating a Nash trade, but at the same token can the Flyers really expect career years from Hartnell, Simmonds, and possible Read again? There is hope a healthy JVR and Schenn will help offset the difference of the career years, but who really knows.

I haven't crunched numbers, but it probably is entirely possible to resign Carle and Jagr. Trade for Nash (depending on parts) and sign a Garrison or Wideman in free agency. The team will be able to go 10% over the cap and place Pronger on LTIR (which sucks) and waive Walker again (only one more year )

Finally, as much there is help needed on back end, there really might be nothing available to trade. Weber, Seabrook, Subban, Bogosian, Enstrom, etc. just might not be available, period. The Flyers never stand pat in the offseason, they're not going to change now.

That lineup doesn't have Shelley in it. Back to the drawing board.

That could be too. Would have to be someone pretty high up though wouldn't it? I don't think the receptionist would be able to feed this type of information to the Burger King.

Maybe it's Zack Hill. Ever since that phony Arnold story, he's lost credibility.

The most important question is: do you think Homer is sold on this current group of defenseman (Grossmann, Timonen, Coburn, Carle and Mez)? It looks very good on paper and has been decent on the ice as well but sometimes you need to shake something up. I wouldn't be opposed to the Flyers trading say Mez, JvR, 1st for Seabrook or Mez, Schenn, two 1st, another prospect for Weber.

Will it take more to get either defenseman? Possibly, but thats the starting point.

OMG. Thats just Homer making stuff up.

He is such a drama queen.

The real truth is that JvR heard that Giroux wants #21 and the Flyers want to trade JvR so G can get that number. It made JvR angry that G just didnt ask him.. so now he is spiting the whole team.

I don't believe a word Homer says anymore. He told everyone that Richards was the Captain they always wanted and then traded him. He told Carter (rumor) that he wasn't going to be traded then shipped him to Columbus. Homer would never come out and say anything other than what you posted.

Seabrook is signed long term to a friendly hit of 5.8 per year. With the cap going up his deal looks better and better. Not sure why the Hawks would even consider making him available.

Playing devil's advocate, what if none of the #1 d-men are available right now, then what? Does Homer stand pat? What role does the forwards play better in their own zone, contribute to the chances given up by the team? Maybe Homer believes on paper the d core is fine especially with guys like Bourdon and Guftsy gaining another year of experience to contribute or add solid depth.

i'm staying away from playing armchair GM...

I like the current group but they broke down and no one can really step in and fully take their place. They need to find a replacement for Kimmo either this year or next.
On the roster their are only a few untradeables...

agreed. IMO he's basically an an arrogant idiot, who somehow has managed to get some good contacts with the Flyers over the years.

Personally I'm all in favor of trading JvR for Nash. I'm not worried about JvR's potential, because if he's lucky he'll someday get near what Nash is already doing.

Of course, the Flyers biggest need is on the blueline, so if trading JvR for Nash somehow stops them from addressing that area then it would be a no-go from my perspective.

But if Homer can do both then he'll have once again pulled off a sweet summertime deal.
