What does an NHL father do for a sons defense ???? For every Sean Couturier there's a Brett Hull.

And so what he was on a 40 goal pace......he fined with 11 ...which is a 21 goal pace...

- landros 2

So then we can agree he's a 20 goal year a guy with three seasons under his belt, would it be too hard to believe he can take another step and become a 30 goal year guy?

Yea but are the Flyers going to keep all those players with a Nash here? it's a good possibility but you're going to have to shed salary somewhere else. In the grandscheme of things with his cap hit I don't think it's a necessity at this point or in the future. The Flyers have enough offense.
- JoeRussomanno

I don't disagree with you Joe. I want the next high Cap hit player on the Flyers to be a #1 defenseman.

You drinken haterade guy. JVR has tons of potential and while I would trade him for a good D man, I'm not giving up on him like it sounds you have. He has shown he can play at an ELITE level at a young age. If the right trade comes around sure, but don't give up on a potential franchise player.

so an ordinary player is what we need to get a top-dman or a Rick NAsh (which we don't need btw)?
- JoeRussomanno

When did I say straight up....but then again he is the a future John Leclair by some accounts.....so far he's been ordinary. What has he done ???? Big deal he scored 21 goals and then and had a career high 39 points...he's not 20 ....he's now 23
If the flyers pay 20 goal scorer's or crappy average defencemen like Carle 5 mill a year, then they will be in worse shape then paying Rick Nash 7.8... So maybe the flyers are lucky and your real name is David Poile .....that's about the only way he gets traded straight up for weber.....

Nobody has stated that JVR is a future John LeClair. LeClair was simply used as example of how players need some time to develop. And now Carle is a crappy average defenseman? I'm beginning to get a clearer picture here of what the problem is.

To answer your question
if he's the guy needed to land a top d man or a Rick Nash type player-Landros 2

a guy who gets 40 points (which is the actual recorded number for the season we are referring to) in his second NHL season is a bust or isn't showing the potential to be a top 6 forward? Just want to make sure that's what you're saying. Also that crappy defenseman you're talking about has said he would take below the projected market value, also how does paying more for a guy that they can duplicate on the roster for half the money who only provides more of what they have, become a less of a problem than for paying a guy under market value that is projected to make 5 mill a year? Are you doing any research or just going off Xbox?

I'm keeping JVR this summer unless its in a potential deal for Weber. Not enough of a track record for this guy. He is locked up at 4.25 per which could be a sweet deal for the flyers if he can stay healthy

But what else do you get? Nikki Zherdev scored 27 one year and 25 another....had tons of talent but was one dimential ....goals are only part of how I judge a player....frankly, I like JVRs playmaking more.....I just differ then you on his upside....and like Zherdev....he has all the skill in the world, but is the "head" there?
I saw Alexander Daigle score 50 something points in his rookie year....but his skill out weighed his hockey character....

Comparing JVR to Zherdev is an awful comparison. Zherdev just plain didn't give a rat's ass and didn't want to play hard.

Seriously.....read what I say not what you think I'm saying.....you seem to think this player is going to develop into a player worth 5 mill a year .....I don't....is he a bust...no..... Does he have skill ....yes....will he ever reach his potential....I say no....is he a serviceable 2nd line winger, maybe one day.....is he in the same category as Rick Nash ....not now....not ever.
Would I trade JVR and other assets to add a player that would be their 2nd best player....in a heart beat.
Carle
So your logic ...or lack there of suggests because that is the market value for Carle...the flyers should pay him 5 mill?or something a bit cheaper... Which by his own play is simply a horrid contract....wouldnt be their first bad contract, but enough is enough....do you actually watch them play games or simply read about the games the next day?

um might have something to do with the Flyers giving JVR this big raise you're heming and hawing about and the fact Zheredev and Daigle both had short-lived stints here. But hey let's ignore the facts when they don't serve our purposes. k now i'm out gnite all.

Carle is brutal....I was being kind earlier....as well someone earlier made the comparison on Leclair......I don't see it...yes that's what all Flyer fans hoped for ....that's just not realistic.
