the cap will go up a higher % then crosby's new contract IMO - homiedclown
Possibly, but the whole concept of Staal being traded hinges on a Crosby extension that makes Staal unable to stay. If you are right, the whole discussion of trading Staal becomes moot.

The rumored deal has Crosby making 300k cap hit more. I don't think that make or breaks their ability to resign Staal.
Now this I agree with. I think Letang becomes the tradable asset if these highly thought of d prospects pan out.
They will never give Dupuis that kind of money. - Gunner Staal

What makes you think that? If I remember right the NFL and NBA owners took a bigger piece of the pie, not sure why the NHL wouldn't get the same. Players will cave like they always do, IMO.
They run anywhere from "He's not a legitimate #1 Center" all the way to "He loves Pittsburgh and wants the best chance to win Cups (they won one in the Crosby era) and he'd play for next to nothing to stay there".
Then the posts about "Buffalo doesn't have any picks/prospects/players to get a deal done but Minnesota or Winnipeg does"
Get real.... Nobody on here knows Jordan Staal or Ray Shero personally. No one on here has a CLUE as to what he wants to do or where he wants to go and no one knows what Shero is thinking long term.
Practically any team in the league could make a proposal that would land Staal., however outlandish and stupid they might be. - Pairo11
OK ... give me a trade idea that makes sense for the Pens in which Staal to Buffalo happens. Please don't put in a puck moving blueliner, or Roy, or other crappy or enigmatic players (Stafford) which fans from other teams (see Edmonton and Toronto) seem to want to pawn off for one of the best two-way forwards in the game. Put down an idea that gives Pittsburgh what it needs and doesn't detract from its chance from competing for a Cup. I don't see one. Do you?

Draft picks don't help a team that is accustomed to challenging for a Stanley Cup title each year. Try again. There isn't a match at all. Buffalo fans can't come up with one.
