Gretzky, Orr, Mario, Roy(Patrick), and Messier beg to differ. I'll go as far as to say Sid and LaFontaine are the same player.

Staal to Carolina for Sutter and the 8th overall.
- dadeadhead

That would make no sense for Pittsburgh. Carolina would have to add another pretty decent piece. Sutter isn't even close to being Staal. So, you trade Staal for a worse third center and the eighth pick in a weak draft? That doesn't help Pittsburgh whatsoever.

I don't think STL would do that either

Since when did Staal become a #1 centre?

He would be in like six franchises, including yours.

Fact is, he's not a proven #1 centre.

I'm not saying he doesn't have the potential to become a #1C one day. But to base his value off of 'IFs' makes no sense.

Just curious....what kind of return would you expect for a centre who's never surpassed 50pts?

You mean one of the best two way centers in the game today at the age of 23?

Same with all the ideas from Toronto fans when it comes to trades - basing value on ifs.

I don't see what Pittsburgh would want from Buffalo for Staal. This is a bad, bad match. STL is totally different. I could see five players or prospects that would interest Pittsburgh without question.

Roy doesn't make sense in that deal. Pittsburgh doesn't need a center.

Even if he was a winger, he doesn't make sense. He simply isn't good enough regardless.

Pen's fans opinions on trading Staal...

"Blah blah blah".

They run anywhere from "He's not a legitimate #1 Center" all the way to "He loves Pittsburgh and wants the best chance to win Cups (they won one in the Crosby era) and he'd play for next to nothing to stay there".

Then the posts about "Buffalo doesn't have any picks/prospects/players to get a deal done but Minnesota or Winnipeg does"

Get real.... Nobody on here knows Jordan Staal or Ray Shero personally. No one on here has a CLUE as to what he wants to do or where he wants to go and no one knows what Shero is thinking long term.

Practically any team in the league could make a proposal that would land Staal., however outlandish and stupid they might be.

At this point, I'm so sick of hearing all these same arguments day in and day out. It's the same thing every day. It's ok for us to say what we want to happen, but for people to say "this will never happen" or "there's nobody on the Sabres that Pittsburgh would want" is completely ridiculous. Like you said, none of us are Ray Shero or know him personally.

I think this offseason is going to be pretty interesting in general. League wide. Especially because of the CBA side of things.

by the way there was some bashing in the last blog from my post that gogs was playing good hockey lately for germany from a few guys, my response got buried from the new blog
(not singling out buffalo fan19)

" If he was really that good, some other team would at least attempt something to pry him from Germany."
- buffalofan19

he has one more year left on his 3 year deal

and he had 9 points in 7 games for germany for the tourney the past month
germany only had 14 goals in the tourney

The statement was he was playing well for germany

guess it is easier for you knuckle heads to pile on a legit post then do a little research

JJ thinks the owners will lock the players out til December. If that is the case, I expect a busy day at the draft and lower contracts for free agents on july 1st

I smell a fix on the boxing match
- homiedclown

I didn't watch it, and I'm not much of a boxing fan, but the article on ESPN.com seems to imply that all the experts, as well as Pacquiao's opponent and his manager, seem to think there was no question Pacquaio won that fight.

I am aware of all that. There are ways to get around that. Those contracts are not air-tight and never will be. If someone wanted him bad enough, they could make it work.
