$5mm defensemen: Michal Rozsival. James Wisniewski. Kevin Bieksa($4.6 cap hit/$7mm salary), Paul Martin, Sergei Gonchar. Carle is as good or better than all of them

There are guys like Yandle who make $5mm, but they haven't hit UFA status yet, which means that they're not getting paid as much as a guy like Carle, who is at UFA.

Yandle as a UFA is probably a $6.5 or more hit. UFA status is a huge factor.

so who thinks the owners will want to up that UFA age requirement?

Considering how long it takes for some players, esp d-men to develop, two rules I hate:

1) 7 yrs/27 free agency
2) waivers/re-entry waivers

It should be understood that 85% of my posts are sarcastic, but I need to put the GIF qualifier in there just in case one's undies knot up upon reading my drivel.

Have to have a sense of humor to understand. Its ashame you have to layout the GIF to get it.

Zero interest in Byfuglien. I think it's just because Enstrom is approaching UFA.
- MJL

So if there is no reason why Enstrom wont sign, and Winnipeg can afford him, then why would they trade him.

I think the Owners have bigger fish to fry then those. I think the whole thing hinges on the players share.

I don't have any information to give you on Enstrom. And if the Flyers re-sign Carle, I don't want him anyway.

Which is why I fear/believe that the 2012-13 season will be akin to the 1994-95 one. *sigh*

I'm offering JvR, 1st and 3rd round picks, and Gus for Seabrook. If thats not enough I would be willing to swap another defenseman in for Gus.

Would you make that move?

I'm keeping JvR at least one more year. I just have this feeling...

Hard to argue with that feeling. But even if JVR reaches the potential many, myself included, feel he has. I'm still trading him for Seabrooke.

Thats understandable. He had an injury plagued season. He could be a monster next year for this team. I think JvR needs to be moved up to the first line with Giroux. I dont like him playing with Briere because defensively that line is a mess.

I think JVR and a first is enough to give. But even still, I don't see Chicago making the deal.

Oh I absolutely agree. the owners have to be looking to get more like 50/50 share.

You never know. Crazier things have happened. I also expect the unexpected with Homer running the show.

Homer is willing to take risks, that we know. He also has no fear about handing other teams draft picks like their candy. When the Flyers see a NEED they attack it and go for the best possible upgrade.

All correct. But I haven't seen any info that Seabrooke is available. Which again, really doesn't mean anything.
