Put a Leafs logo on those players and those words never get said
- Juice

You could say the same with a Canucks logo. Before last season most other fans were calling Hodgson a bust, and Schroeder and Kassian are getting similar treatment.

It would be funny if Luongo gets traded so Schnieder can start, and then goes to Florida where he gets bounced for another young goalie.
- GSDIV

I'd expect him to retire by the time Markstrom is 26 which would be similar to the situation here, it would actually work out perfectly for Lu, the Panthers and even Markstrom. Just look at how well Schneider has developed without being pushed too soon.

Yeah I think you guys are now getting similar treatment that Leafs/Habs fans have been fighting with for years.

It comes with attention and slight amounts of jealousy/hatred. Sit back and enjoy the ride...it's probably only going to get worse.

A core of players are players that actually play in the NHL, Frattin Ashton Kadri Colborne McKegg Blacker haven't made the NHL yet. So obviously they're not core players. Some of them, or perhaps all, might not ever be full time NHL players.

Lupul is 29 yrs old and a UFA after this season, Liles is 32 oft injured and on the downhill stretch of his career.

Grabovski is a good second line center, Kessel is one of the better goal scorers in the league, Dion is overrated and overpaid but still fairly young at 28, Gardiner yes. Other than that they don't have a lot of good young players!

I mentioned 'core' in relation to acquiring Bernier and said that he could grow with the core. I don't know their core!

You equate core with youth and this isn't accurate. The core moving forward will include many of the guys I mentioned and whether a Canucks fan wants to admit it or not...the Leafs are moving in the right direction.

A veteran team should have a very different core group than a lottery team, so yes when referring to a core for the Leafs. I equate it to youth, being they are one of the youngest teams in the league.

Ok, fair enough (although you revised from a definitive statement to qualifying it).

On another note, you should want nothing more than to ship Luongo to Toronto. Heck, that's probably why they are looking for a location to build a Toronto casino.

I stand corrected, Liles is more so in the prime of his career. So yes you're right and I'm wrong, he just seems like he's injured a lot. But then again, I don't follow the Leafs a whole lot.

Regarding Lupul, the only reason I mentioned his age is because he too is in the prime of his career heading into free agency after having a decent/good year. Could he be considered a core piece...yes I guess so. But he's a UFA after next year, he's a journeyman 20-25 goal a year player who's played on four different teams so far in his career.

Anyways back to the original thought, the Canucks are a veteran team. Leafs are the second youngest team in the league I believe? When speaking of core players the two teams should have very different core players! Canucks older, Leafs younger. Nucks won the President's Trophy, Leafs are picking 5th overall.

If you follow the Canucks threads, you'll know that Bieksa isn't overrated...he's a nightmare some days and others he's ok. NO ONE is pumping his tires around here for a Norris Trophy that's for sure!

I'm just finding it interesting that a lot of Leaf fans want to give nothing for Luongo, but when a report comes out that Florida might be the front runner, we get a bunch more Leaf fan offers. Now Franson is the center piece and not Armstrong/Connelly/Komiserek. Is playoff panic starting to set in?
- fiveandagame

You guys even make fun of the logical Trade proposals.........
Franson is a quality 4-5 D man, still with more potential, Scrivens is a legit prospect in gaol , and Hamilton is the Captain of the Marlies, who could be a 3rd line guy....

Its pretty easy to just say "here..Give me Luongo and We'll give you all our unwanted contracts that have Zero upside for you"

I dont buy the "FLA Leading the Luongo Sweeps" for 1 second. Why would Luongo want to go to a Team that has an elite Goalie in waiting that should be given an opportunity this year or Next at the latest???

It is easy to say. It's said on here almost every day. It still think the fairest trade proposal I have seen with Toronto is Franson, McArther and a 2nd for Lu and Raymond. Most of the other deals are clearly tillted in one direction.

I love how Vancouver takes Boston to 7 while facing a brick wall in Thomas and the team is a bunch of pansy chokers. NJ runs into a brick wall in Quick in the finals and have scored 5 goals in 4 games including an empty netter, but nobody is calling them out right now.
- fiveandagame

I don't think anyone thought NJ was that good to begin with. Can't choke if you are overachieving.

Hmmm, bottom pairing Dman, potential 3rd liner and a goalie prospect that we don't need for one for the best goalies in the game. I don't find it that tempting.

More like he's watched too many disaster movies like 2012, Deep Impact, Armaggedon or The Day After Tomorrow and probably read far too much of World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide and decided to go hole himself up in a bunker in Colorado until the Apocalypse is over with.

My fellow canucks fans It seems that another one of our friends Whiskey-Tango has been banned for unjust reason.

For what you say:
Got banned for 3 days after responding to Vantels ban message of urs.
Funny thing is I get the shaft 4 hours after Micah removed all the posts from the thread?

This infact is the work of a unnamed leafs mod abusing his power. Now because Micah does not want me posting the actual repose from the mod I will not. Fight the power don't let this mod abuse his power.

You should know by now that anything Toronto related is okay if it is good for Toronto. When the "tampering" charges were talked about regarding the Sedins, and you have Ron Wilson on public radio talking about players still under contract on another team. My favourite is how the league ruled behind closed doors and then put a ban on talking about it. If it was any other team doing that to a Toronblow player they would have freaked out.
Fast forward to Justin Shultz...

It's sad since Vancouver has the second largest fan base in the NHL (English speaking fan base)

It's very simple, guys. If you taunt a mod, they will ban you. If you feel they are acting to tough, you are better off not responding to them. Calling them out will get you in trouble.

Believe it or not, I get angry PMs telling me I'm abusing my power quite often. No one likes trolls and no one likes getting banned. It's not easy to make everyone happy.

Let's move on from the 'mods are out to get us' stuff. Just treat them with respect and follow the CoC and you won't have a problem. Complaining on the thread isn't going to endear you to anyone.

Cloutier proposing in his new blog that the Vancouver Canucks offer Roberto Luongo to the Philadelphia Flyers for James Van Riemsdyk and Ilya Bryzgalov

Yea, that's what we need. A far worse goalie with an even more ridiculous contract.
