If his last name wasnt Subban who would you really want?
- hubie

Little to do with his last name.....maybe the fact he's been ranked the #1 goalie prospect in North America would be a better reasoning But thanks.

Otherwise the kid who played for the Russian junior team the least 3 years.... Vasilevski or something like that.
Or maybe Jake Paterson from Saginaw.

I wouldnt mind a goalie lets be honest Darcy can draft D's and G's but wouldnt want to use either first.
- hubie

Agreed, in the Sabres current position I think using a 1st rounder on a goalie would be a waste considering the needs we have in front of the goalie.

Dansk is pretty good too but I really dont think any goalie has first round value

A few do, but goalies are going later and later every year. But with so little forward depth in the draft a few might squeak into the first

If Ceci falls outside the top 10, would murray try to trade up to grab him. he seems like exactly the type of d-man that the sens need.

what would it take?

sens trade #15 pick plus prospect (puempel perhaps) for the #10-13ish pick

- sensarmy_11

I think Murray is planning on trying to move up anyway as we speak. All the guys that would be killer fits on the Ottawa blueline seem to be just out of the 15 range.

ottawa sends

#15 pick, zibby, and foligno

to columbus for

#2 pick

draft murray.

too much? not enough? just right?

Leafs trade Gardiner + 1st to Oilers for 1st overall.

Leafs select Nail.
Oilers select Griffin Reinhart.

As much as I would hate to see Toronto get Yakupov I could see Edmonton doing this trade.
Imagine if they do this trade and take whoever is left of Grigs, Galchenyuk, Murray, or Dumba, probably Dumba, so this will give them probably two solid young D-man, (or a solid D-man and a great center prospect) then since they have Gardiner, which is another bargening chip to convince Schultz to sign with them.
So basically Edmonton would give up Yakupov, and get Gardiner, possibly Schultz, and either a solid center prospect or a solid D prospect.
Suddenly Edmonton has a great D corps

I'd say it is too much for us to send on an unproven commodity from our perspective. #15 will yield a useful player, no doubt in my mind. Zibanejad was the 6th overall pick last year and has the tools to be an important impact player for us for years to come. Foligno probably has more value with us than he does on the market but again, useful player. To me, Murray will be a player, but the ceiling of him may not cap out where others would want it. Sacrificing that much youth for him is too much for me to put on the table. Just my two cents.

As much as I'd like Murray, if we did get Ceci, or any of that second tier of D outside of Murray, I think adding some to our 15th overall would definitely work for me. I'm not sure how far we'd even have to go up to get one of these guys, which is the real bonus in the combination of this draft and our current needs.

Id think the Sens would have to send over Robin Lehner which I dont know if I would do.

Well, the thing is I am not really debating vlaue for value, just from the perspecitve of what we need and what we have. I just don't see a fit in adding Murray for those three assets when we could add a solid piece at 15, or just slightly before via trade that would address our needs quite nicely without the large package of players. With Karlsson and Cowen, we don't really need a future top pairing D, but a top 4 would be perfectly fine and at that spot and with this draft, it should be attainable. There are a few holes that need plugging first before we make that type of deal, in my opinion.

I also wouldn't be interested in moving Lehner for anything less than as part of a package to acquire a proven impact player in his prime. Young, unproven goalies like him tend to not have value in trades but when you have one, you hold onto them dearly. Thats my opinion on Lehner.

not bad French, however I believe Collberg is Ottawa's guy in this. Great guy for Alfie to mentor.
