not being a smartass....who else drops the gloves in BP??

Halmo, Gallant, Oleksy, Riley. I believe they cut ties with Olsen but not sure. They had a very tough team last season.

I'd keep Colliton. Seems like a solid AHL vet who sets a good example for the prospects who play there.

Isn't it crazy how their farm team is rough and tumble yet they don't protect their million dollar assets up in the NHL.

On a properly run team yes they would be gone. With the bottom of the barrel shopping done by the Isles don't be surprised if more then 1 are back

I hope PAP is back but I think he's gone to.

No I don't. But neither do you or anyone else on this site. Just as you're quick to insinuate that I have no business assuming that no other teams let their coaches pick their own assistants, you have no business assuming that coaches on other teams don't get to pick their own assistants.

I'm going off logic. Logically speaking, if your hiring someone to do a job, you're going to let them bring in their own people to help them do their job. It happens every day in business. Do you honestly think that the majority of teams' GM's in the NHL tell their coaches that they will hire the assistants for them without the coach's input? Do you think that's the norm?

I'm doing nothing of the sort. All I'm saying is that just because the Islanders did it (if this story is even true) it doesn't mean that its incredibly stupid, unprofessional or off the wall, which is the knee jerk response of almost everyone who posts here.

Call me a Kool Aid drinker if you want but everyone who calls into question EVERY SINGLE THING this team does or has reported to have done or might, maybe do is just drinking a different flavor.

Which explains why the AHL team finished first and our NHL team was almost last.

Huh? I'm pretty sure its no secret Caps was hired as a puppet. I should have said with a real organization you would be able to pick your own assistants puppet or no puppet. I was assuming you knew this isn't your normal organization and i didn't have to explain it further my bad.
- Vukota

You mean like the Devils do making the puppets take Lamoriello's assistants?

I don't question every single thing this team does. Of course they've done lots of things right: draft and sign JT to long-term deal, Moulson, Grabs, PAP, Hamonic, A-Mac, Nielsen, Weight on the bench (as an assistant). They've done many good things. But, they've also made LOTS of mistakes. I choose to acknowledge mistakes they've made and to call them out on the real bad ones. That doesn't make me a complainer. It makes me objective. Some people on here confuse being objective with being pessimistic or a complainer.

That's also Charles Wang's AHL team so when you make ridiculous notions Wang does not want fighters because they may cost him money in fines/suspensions that also applies to the AHL.

Oh yes, Brent Thompson was suspended by the AHL for the first three games of next season.

Unrestricted Free Agents (12)
Forwards (6) Defense (4) Goalie (2)
Parenteau Jurcina Montoya
Pandolfo Staios Grahame (!)
Haley Eaton
Frischmon Reese
Colliton
Gillies

Many of these guys, and conceivably all, will be gone.

my choices for returning would be PA, Jurcina, Reese and Haley. Most of you hate Jurcina but as a bottom 6 guy if we actually end up getting a top pairing d-man he is a BIG body and blocks a lot of shots. He is not a top 2 pairing guy but I think he is better than Staios.

ahhh but that goes the other way too. I am often referred to as a Koolaide guy on here but I take issue with many things the isles do too. The signings last year at the end of camp were horific and the inability to get a major UFA d-man to sign had got me beyond upset... that said I try to be positive as a whole.

I don't blame Wang and Snow for everything wrong with this team. I appreciate the fact that Wang is losing Millions of dollars on this team b/c he was told he would be able to get a big arena deal done.... 10+ years later he is still in limbo. I appreciate he did not do what previous owners did and just cut ALL payroll and/or sell the team immediately. He is still trying to get this done in Nassau County.... that is admiralble. I would be long gone.

Jurcina is terrible. He had the worst +/- in the entire NHL this past season (with Nino a close second to last). He's a train wreck. Its time to move on from the street trash and get a better class of player. They should be looking at guys like Carle, Garrison, Jackman, etc. if they are going to improve the team.

as a bottom pairing why not both? Jurcina is only 27.

Hamonic (to be named later God willing)
Amack Streit
Donovan or Dehaan Reese
Jurcina

He is injury prone and terrible defensively. His size is useless. Time to move on.

his plus/minus has a lot to do with being a top pairing guy which he clearly is not.. and he did block 116 shots and have 173 hits. Would I rather Carle.. sure. Jackman... Hell yes.. but those guys would be top pairing guys and I would rather Jurcina at bottom over Eaton and Staios.
