Hopefully you guys get Vorachek signed, I thought he looked great in playoffs and if he could finish just a little bit often I think he could be a 30 goal scorer for you guys.
Please resign Carle. He seems like the kind of D-man our GM would target

- RockthedRED

I think both will be re-signed. I have no issue with bringing Carle back. Overall he played pretty well, despite being a whipping boy.

here's my silly season suggestion for the day. don't know/doubt toronto would go for this, but. jvr bob #20 for luke schenn and #5? crazy or reasonable, you decide.
- flyerscup2011

hmmmm, I in interested. May have to think on that one

esp with the reports that he would take below market value to be on this team. the more I look at it, I would rather re-sign carle at a modest cap hit and get a guy like Enstrom or try and sign Garrison.

I don't think that is too far off but I think the flyers get the better of that deal. that deal may have worked if JVR had the playoffs he had last year this year.

thanks man, i woke up and it came to me and made sense for both teams. leafs love jvr, need a goalie and they still have a 1st rounder. we solidify our d shed salary and move up to be able to pick griffin reinhart

I'm not in if I'm TO.

I'm holding onto JvR for another season at least so I'm not in if I'm Homer either.

well jvr is only 23 (?) and has shown some of his upside. b burke mentioned he wants to get bigger and faster up front, jvr fits the bill.

Thats why I am interested. At this point it depends if
A) Homer still wants to trade JVR
B) If the guy they want is still around
All in all I think alot of teams will do some shuffling, Homer got ragged on for his bold moves and then at the end of the season he was used as a example on how to shake teams up. I really think a few more teams will follow Homer (maybe not to the extent of trading two high end guys) but some teams will trade some players for some new blood

JvR was waylaid by injuries, and was on a 40 goal pace before that. Jumping into the top 5 is nice, and I like Luke Schenn, but I'd rather trade JvR in a move that lands them a top pair defenseman

I don't think either team would do it. If the Leafs are trading #5 and Luke Schenn, they're going to fill their biggest need, which is a top-flight center.

Bob is meaningless to them with Reimer and Scrivens in the organization.

For the Flyers, I don't think this draft has enough impact players to trade JVR for a pick that isn't #1 overall. And Luke Schenn? Meh.

There was some JvR for Schenn talk during the year. If that's a wash, then it comes down to Bobo and the 20th pick for the 5th. That's not a good deal for TO, IMHO.

Philadelphia GM Paul Holgren believes he can re-sign potential unrestricted free agent Matt Carle. "I have had enough conversations with Matt to know what he is about and know that he wants to stay in Philadelphia," Holmgren said. "We'll see how it all works out." The Flyers are hopeful that they will be able to agree to a deal that will pay him slighly below his market value, as it is projected that he could earn around $5 million per year if he enters free agency. His previous contract was a four-year, $13.7 million deal.

According to a Czech Republic newspaper, Jaromir Jagr is "on track to reach agreement" to remain with the Philadelphia Flyers. Jagr's comments after the Flyers were eliminated from the postseason seemed to indicate that he would not be back, but Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren said the two sides had positive talks shortly afterward. "I think it is fair to say that I have expressed interest in Jaromir returning to the Flyers," Holmgren said on Wednesday. "I think Jaromir has expressed his interest in the Flyers. He had a good year and I think he liked it here." The Czech report said his chances of suiting up for the Flyers is probably at 65 percent and it's 30 percent possible that he signs with a different NHL team. The remaining 5 percent speculated Jagr would head back to his home country to play for HC Kladno, which is the team he owns and his father operates.

Money is always an issue.
- 77rams

seems to me Jagr is saying he doesn't care about the money itself as much as what the money represents. The financial commitment a team shows you is a reflection of your importance to the team. The more you mean to the team the more money you get paid and he wants to be important to the team.

From the blog...maybe this is where you guys saw it.

Even on locker cleanout day, Jagr reiterated that his decision for next season would be based on role not on money. However, a few months earlier, he explained that he sees the two issues as being interconnected to some degree.

"When there is more (financial) commitment to a player, the more important the club expects him to be for the team," Jagr explained. "To me, it's not about trying to make as much money as possible in my contract. But you can't totally separate it."

Homer has always found a way to make the cap work for the team.

Jagr will not take a pay cut. His value is not only the points that he will produce but also the on ice/off ice leadership. Every team needs this...believe it or not...

LA has this although maybe not in true age of a players but they have older players on the team that are helping the young kids on the roster. Better yet, Richards and Carter maybe helping out since the spot light is NOT on them as much. The media is making them the spot light when in fact it should go to Doughty, Quick and Kopitar...

- phi1671

I agree with you but that doesnt mean you pay $3.3M or more to a 40 year old player. Their are other veterans out there that can be had for cheaper who can provide on/off ice leadership. I just think the younger players are ready to get more ice time. Theres just no way you can give Jagr what he wants meaning top line role, top PP, etc. That is something that has to be earned imo. The coach should decide who is going to play where and how. I'm not saying keeping Jagr is a terrible move but I dont think its an urgent signing.

When the best player in the world says he wants Jagr on the team, you put Jagr on the team.
