unless i'm misreading i feel i should correct the two of you. edmonton has the 1st pick and columbus has the 2nd. edmonton won the draft lottery. if i misread i appologize for the unnecessary correction

Not a fan of re-signing Jagr.

I'd like this:

-Trade JVR to Winnipeg for Enstrom
-Sign Zach Parise
-Move Bob and #20 to TB for #10, maybe Reinhart?
-Sign a vet backup, Marty Biron?
-Grab a few defensive grinders to add to our forward group, including a 4th line center

- LordStanley88

You had me up to here. Bob is not valued around the league the way you think he is. He just flat out isnt. People need to understand this. And the only way someone will ever take the Pronger contract off our hands is if we're trading them Giroux.

There could be a team needing to get the the salary floor that might take on Pronger's contract. I expect the Bruins to try and trade Tim Thomas under similar circumstances, since his cap hit will count and they don;t have any LTIR options for him.

I made a conscious decision after the 2010 run to try and be more positive. The 2009-10 season drove me nuts, but simply sitting back and enjoying the games during the playoffs made it so much better.

I found that losses no longer depressed me and I enjoyed the wins as much as ever

- Jsaquella

I honestly think that is something that comes as you get older. I used to live and die with every loss so to speak. If the Flyers had a bad game, or a bad stretch, I'd lie awake at night thinking about it. And that's the regular Season. And getting knocked out of the playoffs was devastating. It's not like that anymore. Doesn't make you less of a fan. I still care and root for the team, and enjoy it more then ever.

I really don't think that trade to TB will work. I don't see TB seeing Bobrovsky as a full time starter for them.

It might be age, but I just got sick of complaining after that regular season. They squeaked in, and my mentality was, let's just enjoy this and see how deep they can get. Every win, just made it more fun.

i'm with you JS...I've watched my bro get so totally invested into each game and getting pissed off when they lost. I was once there in my early 20's...
After a few years of doing that, it wasn't healthy and i just started to enjoy the game.
I still have my usual complaints about the game but i'm not not 100% invested like i used to be.
Enjoy the game and see what happens. it's the best pure game out there...

I'm still 100% invested. Hell, I watch as many games now as I ever did, and still care as much about the games as ever...but rather than simply complain about everything, I'd rather look for positives than simply complain about everything.

What fun is it to go online and simply complain about everything?

I can't do the dramatic disappointment act anymore, myself. I watch hockey for entertainment, and even though losing is still disappointing it shouldn't be the end of my day, let alone the entire world. If anybody wants to consider that 'being ok with losing' (as I've heard some describe it before), I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Let me clarify...100% invested, still enjoy the game and the team we all follow but when life beckons, it's easier to catch up on what I missed then before, where I have to watch every minute. The enjoyment is still there...
I agree on the positives...it's easier that way...

You got it, sir. Throwing a hissy fit over a loss doesn't make one a better fan, nor is anybody impressed by such behavior. It doesn't even just have to be looking for positives, either. One can identify weaknesses and consider ways the team can improve without spewing blame, insults, and related nonsense.

I agree with the sentiment here. I am 100% vested but cant handle the negativity either. What did it for me was my son who is now 7. I dont want to model bad behavior about sports to him. I dont want him to translate it to his soccer games and other sports he plays.

When I was a kid, you didn't want to be around me after any loss.

I recall throwing a fit when the Colts lost a preseason game to the Cowboys.

I'll still lie awake after certain losses, like the two OT games last Spring and the one this year against NJ that they basically gave away.

Regular season I'm more concerned about how the team is playing and what that portends for the playoffs, but sometimes a game like the 9-8 loss will set me off.

I think the Phillies' 2008 World Series win shows us that fans who claimed things like, "I want one championship and then we can suck for years and not care," are full of it. Or suffer from bipolar disorder. They want their team to win - or whine if they don't. It would absolutely be the same here. Folks will act like "We've been behind you all the time" if/when the Flyers next win the Cup and then revert to this pattern of behavior when the team comes back to Earth.

I miss the 2005 - 2009 Hockeybuzz.

- Flyskippy

maybe for most fans but for me, I am indifferent about them being mediocre this year because of 2008 and even 1980. I've seen 2 parades in person. And baseball is my third fave sports. Hockey is my main passion. for me, its Flyers/Hockey then Football but its light yrs below. How many here have seen a Flyers cup? Do I want to see a cup and many years of a contender? of course but at this point the drought is so long that I would be happy to deal with a few bad years for one damn cup

I'll echo Jsaq's words. I'm also totally invested. I watch pretty much every game. But when it's over, it's over. I have some temporary disappointment, and then I move on.

I can't see a team paying any player on LTIR and semi-retired the amount of 19.5m over the next 4 years so they can get to a salary floor....when they can use that on an active player, who could contribute on the ice.

Furthermore, I think the way the flyers front load there contract w/ large cash in the earlier years and it decreases thru out the contract like pronger, briere, bryz, make them more tradable if healthy and can get by the nmc..... That's a big if.

But brieres contract Paying 7,3,2 m over the next 3 years...avg 4m this year and next 2.5. W/ a cap hit of 6.5m....now that is attractive to a team trying to get to a salary floor....2 and 3m due in salary w/ a 6.5 per yer cap hit....that's doable
