Phaneuf is slow, schenn is not that bad. He made some good comebacks to save plays the previous season. And why are you judging our defence... dont you guys need defence - Mapleleafs_91
He's a leaf fan and an Oiler fan. |

Phaneuf-Gunnarson
Liles-Franson
Schenn-Gardiner
Komi
Schultz if we somehow get him - yea-ok-buddy
We will get schultz i have a strong feeling thats the only + side im looking forward to this summer.
And if holzer is really capable of stepping in, then i see both gunnerson and franson traded to bring in top forwards to finally help us upfront. Thats why i said if luongo really comes to toronto, we wont have to worry much, he is decent enough to keep us in games. |

Schenn is slower than everyone.
Yeah the Oilers defense sucks.
I'm very familiar with crappy defense so take it from an expert, that defense you posted also sucks.

Well we would have to base that on a season with those defenders in the line-up. But on paper, our defence looks legit. |

I wouldn't trade Gunnarson unless Holzer can take his place with Phaneuf. Gunnarson with Phaneuf actually gives us a pairing that works. Hard to find a guy for Dion. |

Schenn will be a beast some day. Schultz and Gardiner would be good together but Carlyle would need to sort out the defensive sides of there game if they were to play together... IF we get Schultz i would say Franson and one of Gunner Liles and Komi would go... |

David Jones could be a real good free agent signing, probably the best free agent on the market for the leafs and many other teams, of course leaving out Parise and Suter... But i doubt thats an option for the leafs. |

On paper and on ice are quite different.
And that doesn't even look good on paper.
Anyways. I gotta take a poop.

Agreed that schenn will be a beast some day and ESPECIALLY come playoff time. He will be a playoff guy to have on your team. I like that lineup of schultz and gardiner on same line. But basically it will come down to franson and gunner but franson makes the most sense to trade since we need some shut down guys and less defence that carries the puck or likes to get in on the action. |

Phaneuf - 44 pts in 82 games, fights, hard hitter, hard slapper
Liles- capable of acquiring 40+ pts if not hurt, pucking moving defender
Schenn- needs to up his game, tough player, hits hard, fights
Gardiner- fast skater, smart in his own zone, can put the puck in the net, puck moving defender, best all around defender we got.
Gunner- stay home defender, hard to get by on defence, plays a simple solid game.
Franson- a big guy at 6'5 but does not use his body, collects some points but not as much as anticipated, i see franson on his way out of toronto
Schultz- could very well be the next gardiner, and im pretty sure he can collect some major points as well.
Holzer- stay home defender, fights, played excellent for the marlies |

I see Schenn on his way out to acquire a forward and Gunnarson is our best all around defender. And we dont have Schultz and Holzer hasnt played in the NHL yet. |

How is Tim Connollys salary now a burden? It was only a 2 year deal, and supposedly a great move. |

He trashes everyones comments saying we should build with the draft, that no player is available, that we should not trade our future away (which i agree), that we should not get bigger contracts but in reality we are NOT a rebuild team anymore. If we were a rebuild team, we wouldnt of got kessel. We wouldnt of signed tim connolly, we would of traded kulimen, mac, grabo for draft picks or prospects, etc etc. This is what separates us from rebuilding. We are a team that is rebuilding through trades, acquiring prospects and guys who can compete in the NHL, but at the same time.. remain competitive while acquiring youth. |
