Excellent point about the cap floor. It is what makes soem contracts so attractive to other teams... ESPECIALLY the front loaded lifetime ones. A team will have no problem unloading a 40 year old player because of that beneficial huge cap hit.

Also one of the reasons why I don't understand all these claims that Statsny is available and can be acquired on the cheap. The Av's don't have much incentive to move Stastny's contract, especially for a crap return. They need his salary on the books even if his stats don't justify it.

The funny part is that it has been going on for a few years now... these people that argue that front loaded contracts are valuable for teams who can pay less but get a higher cap hit so they can reach the cap floor.

I can only think of one team that maybe overpaid in an effort to reach the cap floor, and even that is debatable (Florida). I can't think of one example of a team taking on a bad contract to reach the cap floor... and yet this arguement still crops up.
