What do people here feel like Tambi could request for his pick? Jordan Stall? Straight up, or is that not enough? Thoughts and opinions? - PTVinnyMac
i would imagine a top tier player who is established.. and depending on age.. possibly another pick along with him |

GMs don't generally trade the first overall, so chances are his asking price would be stoooopid high.
It has to be high enough that the fan base is really, really happy.
Like Getzlaf for 1st overall happy. - Atomic Wedgie
Do you remember what Burke traded for Pronger by any chance? |

Shea Weber signed to a 10 year, 50 million dollar deal.
I'd do that one.

Lupul, Smid, 1st, conditional 1st (turned into Eberle) and a 2nd.

problem is toronto is not a likely destination.. not with the glut of D in the system.. it wont be attractive to him.. so boo. |

its tough to say, because it depends on his needs, which for me would be defense. I would imagine in order for him to part with his first overall pick, he will want an experienced NHL ready defender +....but again, it all depends on what he sees is his best move as Nail could be quite the player. |

Nope, not that deal. The original deal when he was in Hartford, to draft Pronger? |

2006-Jul-03 Pronger traded from Edmonton Oilers to Anaheim Ducks for Joffrey Lupul, Ladislav Smid, conditional draft pick, round 1 pick in the 2007 draft and round 2 pick in the 2008 draft

So not for the #1 overall, if that was what you were thinking.

the wild card is Toronto's first next year. could end up being an overpayment or pretty good value for the Leafs. though i really can't see Burke trading another first, even for Nash. |

1993-Jun-26 Draft pick rights traded from San Jose Sharks to Hartford Whalers for future considerations, round 1 pick in the 1993 draft (Viktor Kozlov), round 2 pick in the 1993 draft (Vlastimil Kroupa) and round 3 pick in the 1993 draft (Ville Peltonen)
P.S. Kozlov was 6th overall pick. |

Well, if he's drafting two players (Possibility) that played together and project to be top 3 forwards, that could be acceptable... |

Oilers dont need 3/4 dmen, even though those guys were 5/6/7 dmen for the Leafs last year.... curious.
Take Khabi back and bury him? He would be your best goalie.
Anyways, that deal isnt even in the same universe as to what the Oilers would be looking for in return for the #1 overall pick. - robin_steele264
No kidding, We'd have to send something worth while (for edmonton) which entails spending too much. It's not worth moving up in the draft - costs too much.

I do like the Leafer's idea, though:
Don't just propose a wacky trade.
Go for Nash and the 2nd overall.
Probably have to throw in Komi to get it done, though. Columbus will need his salary to reach the cap floor. - Atomic Wedgie
Excellent point about the cap floor. It is what makes soem contracts so attractive to other teams... ESPECIALLY the front loaded lifetime ones. A team will have no problem unloading a 40 year old player because of that beneficial huge cap hit. |

we reaaaaally dont need Nash. We have other, bigger, problems to address before going after a guy like Nash. |

Daigle said after he was picked #1 "Im happy I went first cause no one remembers who went second"

There, so, if we use that as a template... NO, he shouldn't do it. LOL!
I don't know how I feel about Yakupov enough to say he'd be worth that type of payment... The thought of him and Gally playing here together, makes it tempting. But not tempting enough... |

Exactly.
Burke tells him they are moving players out, and that he has a real shot at making the team in September.
Every athlete thinks they can make the big club if they are just given a chance.
Not saying he is coming here - just saying the fact that we have Franson and Komisarek on the roster won't factor into his decision. |
