After the trade deadline is "set"....when does it get lifted again?
I was confused when Wash traded Vokoun to Pitts before the playoffs were done, as I originally thought no trades could go down until playoffs were over.... |

didnt see if anyone posted this
colborne is trying to get fat
http://www.theglobeandmai...me-a-leaf/article4238261/
Trust me, they’re on me to keep getting bigger,” Colborne said on Wednesday, as the Toronto Marlies prepared for Game 3 of the Calder Cup finals. “It’s absurd right now. I probably eat about 4,000 or 5,000 calories. It just never ends. I’ll go out for food and everyone else is ready to leave and I’ve got to eat a whole new meal.
The final key is gaining even more weight, something that will require plenty of diligence in what will be a short summer given Colborne’s end goal is to enter training camp in the fall at 225 pounds. |

I believe teams are free to trade once the playoffs start as long as the teams involved are either not in the playoffs or have been eliminated. |

trades can be made anytime, but if a player is traded after the deadline he is not eligable for the post season |

Nash may want out but he's not calling the shots. for Nash AND the second overall, you're looking at this year's first and second, next year's first plus a solid prospect like Gardiner. any other deal makes no sense from Columbus's POV. - DoubleDown
I do like the Leafer's idea, though:
Don't just propose a wacky trade.
Go for Nash and the 2nd overall.
Probably have to throw in Komi to get it done, though. Columbus will need his salary to reach the cap floor. |

Trades can be made at any time, A Payer traded after the deadline is not able to play in the playoffs, therefore you generally dont see trades untill after the Cup is Presented
I Think Burke has a trade proposal on the Table for Lungo, that Van would take, FLA is driving up the price to see if Burke will include more |

does the team being active have anything to do with it?
i thought it only effected player eligability for the post season? if i'm wrong i'll gladly stand corrected. |

I keep hoping he is shopping Phaneuf for a good return.
I know a lot of people might scoff at the idea, but you never know what a GM out there may be willing to give up for him. - GoneFullRetard
In fairness to Phaneuf, while he hasn't been a Norris candidate, or competant in his own zone, he rediscovered his scoring touch this year, and that alone earns him another year to go out and see how good he can be.
He needs to continue playing with Gunnarsson in order to provide stability.
I don't think he's worth the 6.5 he gets, but he is still effective |

It does make you wonder what would happen to BB's approach to dealing with the D if we get Shultz.
Plus we have to consider that Holzer may be ready.
I'd be more inclined to keep Gunnarsson as he is very conservative and doesn't leave himself exposed as much as others.
Looks like Franson would be the most likely candidate out if we are to move up in the draft somehow - AngryWhiteMale
Franson isn't going to get you a whole lot in return.
Like maybe swapping 2nd round picks with Columbus.
Seriously, he's just not that valuable. |

it would be a mistake to get rid of franson now.. work with him for a couple years and see if anything comes of it..
unless he is the lil piece that makes a bigger trade happen of course |

Here's a scenario, don't know if this is at all possible, but I'm playing GM so discuss lol
First the Leafs sign Schultz, which in turn makes Gunnarson, Schenn and Franson expendable. (More so Franson and Gunnar, but I believe Schenn has good trade value)
Then, Trade Kulimen, Komisarek, D'Amigo and this year's 2nd round pick to Van For Luongo and their 1st (I believe it's in the 22 to 24 are, please correct me if I'm wrong)
Trade Macarthur for a late 1st if possible 14 to 19 range (if we need to sweeten the pot a little to get a first, with a prospect or another pick, suggest it. I do it)
That would now mean, we would be in possession of 3 1sts
Trade Schenn, Franson, Reimer/Scrivens and our 14th to 19th (Whichever we aquire) to Edm for first overall.
Flip our fifth and Gunnarson to NYI for their 4th overall
Pick Yakupov and Gally/Grigorenko/Murray depending on how the cards fall after CLB and Montreal pick.
Call up the Marlies that are ready to fill a spot on the team (Frattin, Holzer)
Push Hard for Suter/Parise (Whichever makes more sense in our need for forward or D after the moves)
Sign Moen
Now, this all is based on the needs that some teams have. It's just a scenario. I'm not saying I believe this will happen. I'm saying if this could be done, I'd do it. Would you?

So we don't want the starting goalie because of the length of his deal at 5.2 per, but Nash at 7.8 per is cool...
Until we get a 'tender, nothing happens.
As long as we walk away from the draft with a Blue Chipper I'm happy, perferably Forsberg, but Galy would be ok too
Nash, 2nd overall, Brassard
_______
Grabs, Reimer, Mac, 5th, Schenn
they get a goalie, and some tools to help keep the team half decent in the near future.
EDITED*
Then do Kadri, Komi and the 35th overall for Luongo |
