No, because they are not under contract for next season. But they are still officially on the books until next season.

But the Flyers have said they have maxed out their tagging space for next season, which includes the new contracts for JVR, Coburn and Grossmann and most also carry the Pronger contract on their cap figure.

The Nashville Predators will not bring back Alexander Radulov for the 2012-13 season and will look to trade his rights to another NHL team. GM David Poile said if the team cannot deal him then they will allow him to return to the KHL to play in Russia. "The best way to characterize it is it's time to not pursue Rad anymore," Poile said. "If he wants to play in the KHL, that's fine. If he wants to play with another NHL team, I'd be willing to trade his rights." Radulov is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1. He returned to the Predators near the end of the regular season after playing four years in Russia. He notched three goals and four assists in nine games and posted another six points in eight playoff contests.

I heard he got a $7 million+ offer from the KHL. He won't touch that kind of salary in the NHL.

isn't that tax free money? who wouldn't want to play 20 fewer games and not pay taxes?

Depends on what he wants to do. Take more more and play in the KHL or take less money and play in the NHL (against the best in the world).

Especially because KHL salaries are usually tax free -- actually there is a tax but the team pays it.

Bill - you are the (hockey) man.

Question - are you aware of trades / free agents targeted (etc) that you hear from different sources but are not allowed to report? How often do you have to keep things under wraps (if ever)?

Now isn't the time to knock Carter. He's played great in the SCF. I have knocked him in the past, but he deserves a lot of credit for the way he has performed. I still despise his behavior when he was traded, pouting and basically forcing Columbus' hand, but on the ice he's gotten the job done.
- PLindbergh31

Ive been zeroing in on Carter a lot. He has really been playing well at both ends of the ice. He looks relatively healthy and Im thinking that has much to do with it.

I also agree that the way he acted in Columbus was unbecoming.

Plus the conditions of the rinks and such in the KHL are reportedly terrible.

It happens every once in awhile, more so with Ek than me. But a few times I have gotten info where the source asked me not to write it, even if it sourced anonymously.

Well, glad you are part of this site. There are facts and opinions and we enjoying reading both.

As you can tell, the hunger for hockey has not died in Philadelphia.

it's like the european leagues for fringe nba players 1 or 2 guys can really cash in, but if more players go over there the money will dry up quickly.

Don't think it's been done since there have been 4 rounds of seven game series.

Looks like a lot of you Flyers fans are rooting for the Kings on so many different levels.

If you all think it's boring, I'll take it.

Boring and winning our first Cup > Exciting and losing

Many of us Kings fans have suffered for a long, long time. It's one thing if our team was perennially good and never won, but with the exception of a couple years per decade, we've been bad.

I don't think it's been boring.

Watching the ex Flyers play, at least for me, has added another level of interest to the finals.

Gagne and Richards were big favorites of mine and I also liked J Will and Carter, and of course loved Hextall. Still have Richards and Gagne jerseys.

Darryl Sutter playing Gagne was a great and classy move, and I now will always be a fan of Sutter for doing this.

I am happy for the ex Flyers, of course wish they had done it with my team but don't regret this year at all. I don't give a damn about what the media may write and now second guess Homer's trades with the Kings having success. I can judge the trades myself, and they were good ones for both sides. I think Columbus got hosed because I'm not a huge Jack Johnson fan, but the Flyers set themselves up for the next bunch of years and did fine in the deals.

Good luck Kings.

i wouldn't be opposed to the idea that if the flyers can't add suter or parise to use next year as a year to get the young players more playing time. i think successful teams in this league tend to promote from within and i think the flyers have enough talent in the organization to relatively stand pat and still compete. i mention getting suter or parise because if players of that caliber are ever available you have to go all out to get them. the flyers could have a year where they have a good amount of cap space and maybe a stud rental defenseman or two will be available at the deadline. it would be interesting to see line combos like this:

harts g jvr
schenn coots read
voracek briere simmonds
wellwood talbot rinaldo

and put much more emphasis on defense from the forwards especially

Trust me, to be perennially good and not win for a long time is REALLY tough and maddening. But yeah, despite what some douche's are writing, Most Philly fans really want Those who have bled Orange & Black to succeed, even after they've left. Also as a Flyers fan who lives in LA. This town could use some Hockey'ing up.
