You don't get any credit for finishing second. I always cite the Buffalo Bills as the prime example, they played in 4 straight super bowls, (a hell of an accomplishment) and they are the butt of jokes.

Thats true. But you dont have a chance to win the prize if your not playing in the big dance.

i think that's the best part...
after the winner, every one else came in second place...matter of speaking...LOL

Just like the Flyers in 2010...great year but you didn't win the Cup...

Devils nice boring hockey...too bad you lost
Maybe Zubrus will fall again tonight and act hurt...

the oscar goes too

- phi1671

When I read Sykora was back in the Devils lineup tonight, I figured Zubrus would be the healthy scratch. He's been dreadful.

I'd like to see Jimmy and Brad each get their individual moments in the sun regarding their enshrinement in the FHOF. They should each have their careers recognized and honored as other former Flyers have, not shared.

Personally, I'd still like to see the finals go seven. I know that's not going to happen but I'm selfishly not in a hurry to see the series end just yet. Who'd I like to see win it all? I really didn't care before the series started, nor do I care now. I just wanted to watch some good hockey.

Sounding like a curmudgeon, I guess, but I don't have any emotional attachments to any former Flyers on LA (or any other team for that matter), just like I'm not rooting for NJ because of Dainius Zubris.

If it's not the O&B skating around with the Cup, whoever else proves deserving of it should have it.

With how they are getting dominated they may as well be sitting home playing beer pong and winning awards from local retailers.
- bird_dog

They lost 2 games in OT. Thats not really getting dominated. The Kings outplayed them in this series but the Devils had a chance to win games also.

Yeah, but the Devils have one of the best franchises over their goalie's tenure. Just not the fan support that we have in Phila. I wouldn't compare them to the Bills.

BTW - the Bills will be a playoff team this year and watch out.

- Daman

Yeah, no question. They have been a great franchise over the last two decades. Lamoriello is one of the top executives in all of sports.

I'm not comparing the Devils franchise to the Bills, was just using it as an analogy.

Keep your eyes on the big prize. It's all about the cover of the video game.

I know. Just giving the Devils credit even though I hated them for so many years (back in the Scott S. days).

We have so much more talent than the Devils it is a shame we lost that series.

Agreed. Talent alone isn't enough to win in any sport. Heart, discipline, desire, commitment, are all equally important.

Yes he did, and then they went on to win 3 cups, and play for 2 more.

Yup, I believe that quote from Gretzky was in the infancy of the Devils tenure in NJ. Early to mid 80's. The days of the Christmas Tree uniforms.

Yup. A team of Max Talbots will beat a team of Jeff Carters 9 times out of 10.

What do you expect? 4 ex-Flyers currently on the Kings roster, an ex-Flyers coach is an assistant coach, and Hextall is the assistant GM. You knew it would be one of the themes of the series.
- PLindbergh31

Dean Lombardi, Ron Hextall, John Stevens, Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter and Colin Fraser. its just so crazy. all players drafted here.

I still don't question the trades. I love the young players the Flyers got in return as well as the one draft pick turning into Grossmann and still have hopes for Cousins. I really hope the Flyers give this core time to grow

I'm with you, I still think they were good trades regardless of this Kings run.

It truly is unreal when you think about it how Carter ends up in LA with Richards and they win the Cup. It makes the mind reel.

Now isn't the time to knock Carter. He's played great in the SCF. I have knocked him in the past, but he deserves a lot of credit for the way he has performed. I still despise his behavior when he was traded, pouting and basically forcing Columbus' hand, but on the ice he's gotten the job done.

Who on LA hasn't gotten the job done? Every single player is playing well. Even Pancakes Penner.

Yeah, they all have been great. Carter's goal in overtime in game 2, basically ended the series imo. Fantastic individual play by him. Just spectacular.

I dont have cap numbers or rules in front of me, but I would think if they wanted him signed, it would be done already. I think the Flyers are in the drivers seat knowing they can have him for cheap and are exploring all other options before committing to him. Purely blind speculation on my part.
