Impossible to determine. I don't think thats even a relevant point. JvR is still very young and I see why he was a 2nd overall pick. The same logic can be applied to Kreider. He looked impressive at times, but it was only 1 playoff run. How did he do against new jersey?

I was using a backwards attempt to say that I dont think there was enough of a sample size of JVR's 40 goal pace to credit him as a possible 40 goal scorer. I hope I'm wrong... unless the Flyers trade him, then I hope I'm right...

Just stinks they cant LTIR players during the summer. We only have to Rathje him for another five years. The new CBA needs to have something about career ending injuries were players still get paid but dont count on the cap.

When Jagr was packing up at the end of the season it looked pretty much definite the Flyers would not be bringing him back for the raise he wanted. As I reported a few days ago other teams had been rumored to be preparing July 1 offers as well. Well today the tides appear to be shifting back to the Flyers and Jagr possibly getting a deal together after all. According to a source, several Flyers, including Claude Giroux, lobbied hard for the team to re-sign Jagr in their exit interviews and the Flyers may indeed be once again working on a one-year deal.

Jagr was a great soldier in Philadelphia. While his numbers fell off as the season went along what he brought to this young team was far more important than his numbers. For a guy like Giroux, Jagr taught him how to be a superstar and play at a higher level night in and night out. Scotty Hartnell's game was elevated to All-Star status playing on a line with Giroux and Jagr.

Jagr's work ethic was astonishing, and I really got the impression that Giroux and Hartnell's respect for the guy meant that every time they hit the ice for a shift with him they continued to push him harder.

I am curious if Flyers fans feel Jagr is worth another year at a raise, or, while the players devotion to him is inspiring, "Have the Flyers gotten all the advantages of Jagr out of him and were his numbers dropping a sign he may not have enough in the tank at his age for an entire season?"

There is no doubt in my mind that the youngsters of this team feel this way about Jagr. The players as well as the media have been open about this all season long. Jagr's name and history in the NHL is a motivational leadership tool for the players on this team. It's another type of leadership we've been missing since Pronger went down due to injury. If the Flyers did choose to walk away from Jagr, I figured Doan would be the next best player to replace the voices of Jagr and Pronger that the Flyers would be leaving behind. I think Jagr being re-sign would be a good thing. It just depends on how happy Jagr would be with a lesser role.

The Jagr salute was a big deal this season from the Winter Classic to the All-Star Game.

Is it the same way if he was 24 and had a career ending injury? Would that 5 years still count?

He actually signed it as a 34 year old, but turned 35 before it went into effect.
