Rangers may be interested in Shane O'Brien. I would love to have him wearing a Blueshirt next season. Big, hard hitting D man with a hell of a shot |

if you're talking about Thrones then i have to agree. I've never read the books. I consider that a good thing because i'll be surprised every episode. The show is amazing. - tomburton99
My sister, who reads REALLY slowly (the only way I can imagine her making it through med school is she must have a photographic memory, because she sure doesn't have time to read anything twice) loved the books up to a point. Then she started feeling like not enough ever gets resolved and the author looks unhealthy and is going to die before he finishes. |

Honestly the Kings were just unlucky last night. They completely carried the play, and beat Fatso several times. I think they hit the post 4 times. If one of them goes in, they play with the lead.
Give the Devils credit for winning, but I expect LA to finish this on Saturday night. Which will be really sweet watching them raise the cup on NJ ice! |

Hitting the post isn't even a shot on goal so it isn't beating anyone. |

They beat Fatso insofar as the puck was past him, hit the post, and rebounded back out before his fat little leg even moved. |

The problem we had with Holik and with Gomez is we compensated them in line with something they never were; top line players. Gomez in his prime was a very good 2nd line C who could be a #1 C on some teams. We paid him like an elite player in the league. Holik was given crazy money but he was never anything more than the best 3rd line C in the NHL. He was big and mean and could score some but at $9 million per he needed to be a 40 - 50 goal scorer.
Parise will be compensated (on an AAV basis) like the star that he is. The deal may be frontloaded in order to guarantee a hefty payout in advance of a potential lockout and to also make it more prohibitive for the Devils to make a deal. However if the AAV is around $7 million then he will be fairly compensated for the production he brings.
And not all Devil UFA's have struggled with the Rangers. I think both John MacLean and Bruce Driver were pretty good players even if they were in their respective career twilights. - gkmkiller

I'm just always annoyed by the whole hitting a post being such a great thing. It's a miss. Plain and simple. If there was no goalie there, a post shot will not go in. It's not a SOG. |

Interesting. Good for Columbus. I know St. Louis has new management, but with the progress they've made under JD, I don't know why they wouldn't keep him around. |

It's the whole luck thing or the smallest of margins having the biggest of impacts. An inch or two further in one direction and you're talking about a big goal. Instead it clangs off the iron and it's nothing but a shot attempt; not even one on net. It's "oh, so close," every time that happens. |

Agree with you. I would want stability at the top of the organization if I am the incoming owner.
However, I believe that despite the on-ice success this year that St. Louis is still losing money. Maybe that's what they are looking for; someone to turn the business side of things around. The hockey ops should be in good shape if JD leaves assuming Armstrong and Dave Taylor remain with the club. |

Elias' goal shouldn't have counted, Brodeur gets that call 100% of the time, only difference is Marty flops, Quick mans up and gets no help. |

If they want, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are going to sign somewhere for a jillion dollars this summer. |

What do you guys think Del Zotto gets this summer? 3 years/9 million, something like that? I honestly have no idea what he'll get. |

I have thought about this a lot
I actually think the organization likes him more than most of us do, not saying that we don't like him, but he has his detractors.
I do know Glen Sather doesn't like to give up "leverage" in contract negotiations and hates giving young players a lot of money.
This very well could be see him unsigned until the new labor agreement is figured out well into September, but three years 9 million certainly sounds realistic. |

I like Del Zotto alot. I thought that he progressed significantly this season, particularly in the defensive and physical aspect of the game. I think he is a bit of a polarizing figure with Rangers fans, and maybe that has a little to do with McDonagh being so off the charts good at such an early point in his career, but we can't lose sight of the fact that the kid is not even 22 years old yet.
Personally, I see Del Zotto as a future multiple time all-star in this league, and unless there is just so crazy good deal out there, I have absolutely no interest in trading him.
I just hope that he doesn't get too crazy with his salary demands this summer, because if he does, you know Slats will take his negotiations into training camp. The one good thing, is Slats doesn't have a heavy load this summer as far as re-signing his own.
