"The Kings deserve all the credit they're getting and more for what they've done throughout the playoffs and so far in this series, but to see people slamming the Devils the way they have been is ridiculous. The Kings don't have a 3-0 series lead because the Devils suck, they have a 3-0 series lead because they've been playing great hockey. People need to realize that and give the Devils some credit. What they've been able to accomplish this year and in the playoffs, especially after last season, is remarkable. Give them the respect they deserve."
the Kings have had a 3-0 series lead against everyone they have played including the two top point getting teams in the West! its a remarkable run |

If you turned on the game in the third last night without seeing the score you would have thought the Kings were the ones behind. They were quicker to the puck, winning battles, and punishing the Devils with hits all throughout the period.
I don't think it matters if we score first or not next game the Kings are on an unstoppable roll right now. |

If you look at the performance as a whole, taking away the score and the four goals, it was pretty even. Up until the Kings scored first, we were playing better than them. The matter of it is we can't find a way to finish, and that's a testament to the Kings defensively and Quick. If there ever is such a small glimpse of hope in this series, its that we have been in every game, let's face it, if we scored on one of our chances before they scored, it would be an entirely different game. Once they scored, we got frustrated. Same goes for two OT games, we didn't get destroyed by the Kings by any means, we just can't find ways to finish.
If the hockey gods somehow give us some luck in finishing scoring chances, we could have a glimmer of hope in this series, a very small glimmer though. - _Zippy_
With all due respect, my dead great aunt Ethel would have more high shots on Quick than your whole team. It boggles the mind how you guys keep shooting it at his chest or feet. Whatever though, I hope you keep doing it from the Kings perspective, but from a fan of hockey's perspective, it makes no sense. |

Last nights game was interesting. You guys controlled a lot of the first, partly due to the PP's. Once we got the first and second goal, then we controlled the rest of the game.
What I didn't like seeing from NJ is at the very end of the game they started playing with intensity again. I mean (frank), a little too late? It's like if you're going to play hard right at the end t save face or to not get shut out, why not play with that same intensity even when the Kings are scoring on you? I don't care if the Kings were playing better than them, they can still compete their hardest.
What's worse than losing is giving up. |

Oh, and Todd, I don't think too many people are saying the Devils suck or play like poop. Maybe a few trolls here or there, but everything I've read here and elsewhere have said the Devils have been in the games and the first two could have gone either way.
I don't think any "real" hockey fans have called the Devils garbage. You guys have a good team on a good run, but like the three teams before you, just met a better and/or hotter team. |

Take it one game at a time guys. I realize it would take a miracle, but now freed from any expectations of actually winning the thing, might as well enjoy whatever hockey there is left. Being able to play in the SCF is a rare occurence (more rare for other franchises) -- might as well enjoy it. |

per TG. maybe that will help.. i thought Poni was more of the problem than Josefson.. but then again, Josefson wasn't doing much anyway outside of some speed and stick handling. We're doomed. |

And 1998. But NJ swept us. Revenge isn't going to be complete until they are swept too. |

have not heard anyone really "slamming" the Devils; they have been competitive in all 3 games, and the biggest lament has been that their top players have not been scoring (nor has anyone else). They also have not gotten a break (the first goal last night was shaky), but on the other hand they failed to get much pressure on the first period 5-on-3, when a goal could have set the tone and maybe changed the course of the whole series....bottom line, they have simply not been good enough, but no one is "slamming" this team when there are 28 other teams sitting at home.... |

gimp kovy vs. gimp gaborik, Brodeur vs. Lundqvist, Devils vs. Rangers.. DeBoer vs. Torts, we won convincingly in 6. Thats something to be happy about. We made the Flyers look silly, frustrated, childlike. Thats something to be happy about. We got past the 1st round against the overachieving Panthers.. winning the last 2 games in overtime.. that was fun.
But its never fun to come so far and come out with NOTHING. Hopefully we can get a win to avoid being swept. Maybe we can then win at home in game 5 and break their road win streak.
So that would make it 3-2 Kings. We'd still have to win 2 more without losing one. .. that in itself is seemingly impossible with the speed, strength, and health of the Kings.. vs the age, struggle and grind of the Devils. - MartysBetter88
Would still come out with another banner, more than the Kings still. Not great, but something. Add me to the list of those very impressed by the Devils, especially the Rangers series and game 2. This is just the Kings year. FINALLY, after 44 years, with one more win still to go of course... |

consider how the nucks, blues and phx looked against the Kings........Devils have played much, much better than any of them. Kings have had some luck and been really good. Devils play a hard, clean game and I believe they are the best in the East. I have much more respect for the devils players compared to the Yotes and Nucks. Barring a Kings collapse, good luck next year. |

The only thing I'd slam about the Devils is their shot selection. Terrible to be going low on Quick 99% of the time. And their finish. How many wide open nets have they missed?
Other than that, they've played well enough to win 2 of 3. |

glad some devils fans are still having some hope. its funny you can tell the real fans from the fake ones. the real ones are still calling for a win while the fakes are resorting to just bashing the rangers for losing the ecf. the real fans should smack some sense into the fake ones and let them know the stanley cup finals aren't over yet. |

I only resort to bashing the Rangers fans about the ECF finals when they bring up poop like "Take out the brooms." To me, it's absolutely stupid for a Flyers or Rangers fan to say poop about the Devils being down 0-3 in the series, and that's the only time I will bring it up. |

It's not as easy as you think. First off, the Kings do a great job of getting shooting lanes. That being said, shooting high is usually not an option, as you'd have to get a picture perfect lane. None of our defensemen are picking corners or top shelf from the point, on purpose, it's just not going to happen. From the point, you want to get it low. The Devils need to just start throwing pucks at the net, ala what the Rangers started doing. When you get a puck just above the red line, throw it in front as there is usually a Devil there, any bounce can happen.
It seemed like every (frank)ing time it got back to the point with an open shot or lane, it was Volchenkov, our absolute worse offensive player by far on the team. |
