Dang, you have some high expectation.

As for Tangradi I am not sure the coaching staff will give him that kind of time because even last year when we had injuries he was given fourth line duties so I am not sure what will/has changed over the summer for the staff to have more faith in him.

As for the drafting and trading I don't even want to go there because I don't want to think about the possibility of trading Staal and I doubt we can dump Martin or Z unless we sweeten the deal or take alot of money back.

Its mentioned caro is willing to give their 1st and sutter.. So we can start with that. Pens will have two first rd picks... Go after the guys ive mentioned.

Next, its been reported that the cap floor will be around $50.3 mil and some teams will need slaries like martins and z. Its just they have to waive their ntc and nmc... Thats the problem

We need size up front. Tangradi can give us that. Not everyone needs to be fast as Pavel Bure on this team do they? WTF.

I am with you. I have been one of the bigger supporters of giving the guy a chance in a top six role and have been pretty annoyed when they call him up and play park, adams, asham ahead of him.

Nothing about his game screams top 6 in the NHL. I watched him in person a few times in the AHL and just dont see it.

He is the poor man's version of Ryan Malone, and by poor I mean India ghetto poor.

Yeah, I get you. If the cap does indeed go up to 70 ish like its been rumored I think we should keep Staal even if we can't dump martin or z. He is to valuable of a player to get rid of even for a 1st round pick. Just because we are getting a 1st doesn't mean it translates into a great player. Look at how many flops there has been taking in the top 20. Plus, we are losing the best PKer we have and he really was our best guy in the playoffs.

I hate that comparison. Yes, everyone wants him to be that type of player mostly because we need that kind of player. Since everyone always compares these two lets take the comparison to another level. You can't make the assumption that you've made for another 2-3 years which is when Tangradi will be the same age as Malone was when Malone cracked the nhl as a full time player. Tangradi is still 23 and showed promise in the playoffs. It doesn't hurt the team to give him a chance playing top minutes especially when we lack size and depth up front on wings.

Now that's poor!

And I agree, gave up on Tangradi living up to his billing some time ago. He had better learn to play some strong defense because his offensive side won't be landing him on an NHL roster. I know the argument against me will be that he's never been given the chance, yada, yada. To me he hasn't done anything to deserve more of a role. I expect him to be on another team soon.

Trust me i am a huge staal fan and i hate to think of him not on the team but i dont want him walking away next yr if we could trade him and get somethings to help out the club... i dont think he is the kind of guy who would pick money over a great team nor do I think he is fed up playing second or thrid fiddle to sid and geno and would rather play with his brother....

This yrs draft class has a lot of talented wingers that the pens can go after if they are smart... moving martin and Z for picks will also help us get some players that slide down the draft rankings bc teams decided to go after D more this yr...

as for your posts on tangradi, I agree if he is given the chance at those top 6 mins to play along sid and geno it might help his cause, but if they arent giving him the chance then trade him....

Yeah I see where you are coming from with the Staal side of things and I agree. It really boils down to whether Shero thinks he will be able to resign him or not. If you doesn't think he can then I guess trade him but otherwise he stays.

a) This is pure speculation on your part. In fact, people that scout for a living think the exact opposite of you. This year is weak for wingers outside the top 5.

b) What the hell do we want to trade Staal for prospects/picks for? We're built to win now. If Staal gets traded and we don't have a proven top 4 defenseman coming back I'm going to lose my poop.

what? pens have enough nhl ready D even if they lose martin and Z.. strait and burtuzzo have to clear waivers just to get back down to wb/s. and I rather have strait as the 7th guy...

would staal and tk for 1st suter and allen be worth your wild??

Z will get traded to otto for a 2nd

martin to whoever for a 3rd

is that better? then at free agency go after guys to fill the slots??

He has size. I don't care what line he plays on. I want size up front IF we can get it!

YOu just have to figure Staal really has no reason to stay here. Why would he want to sign below market value and be a 3rd line center and PK specialists? Not a very good career move. The only question is if Shero wants to make 1 last run with the 3 centers or trade 1 of them and get something back. And it's not like the Pens have been contenders every yr either. More reason for Shero to go in a new direction.

And there's Nothing wrong with maxing out with 3rd/4th line potential. No need to trade him away only to fill that roll with a mirror image.

I see shero extending staal another 3 years. If the cap goes up to 70 mil we could afford him.

as for tangradi, he needs to get tagged along in a deal hopefully to make it more appealing
