Edmonton makes no sense unless they are trading the top pick, which I think they should. They aren't really helping their glaring weaknesses by drafting Nail.

Columbus - I DON'T see a match. There really is nothing in the farm system and outside of two guys on the major league roster, there isn't a match.

Minnesota - only one guy interests me and its Clutterbuck. That said, I don't do a Staal for Clutterbuck and a first. Setogucchi doesn't interest me.

The teams I see a match - Phoenix, Chicago, Nashville, STL and maybe Winnipeg.

I don't want anyone from phx

I only want saad from chi and I'll take kane, his skills out weigh off ice antics. But there 1st means nothing to me bc it's only want2 picks before us...

Nashville doesn't do anything for me either

Ill take oshie and backers from st

And i really don't see Kane moving from Winnipeg

I want a top 10 pick for staal and atleast a grit player coming back , we can fill the holes with rookies tangradi and jeffrey and have money to go after parise IF we move Martin too for a pick

The cap floor is like 53.mil, someone will need Martin or z's contract

Phoenix has more to offer than basically any team you have mentioned.

STL has more than Oshie and Backes (would never offer him for Staal to begin with).

I'm thinking other name than Evander Kane from Winnipeg.

Patrick Kane is a douche bag. He is more trouble than he is worth. They can put a very fair deal together for Staal without having to add the DB.

You want a top 10 pick for Staal in a draft that is classified as WEAK? We aren't on the same page with anything.

Travis Yost has a really logical trade proposal with The Pens and Blues in his new blog. In fact the whole trade war series he is doing with Cloutier is really good. I don't want to trade Staal at all but he proposed Staal and our 1st this year for Oshie and Ty Rattie. Ty Rattie is a really great forward prospect. Great great numbers in jr this year.

Cloutier is a fool. His ideas are outlandish and show he knows very little. Yost's idea is interesting. Staal's game would fit in very very well with the Blues. Oshie would provide Crosby/Malkin with another winger - he can play center as well. However, I'm wondering when Oshie will break out. He hasn't had the 20-goal season yet and if not for Staal missing 17 games, Jordan puts up more points than he does this year as a third line guy. Rattie is a prospect ... nothing more, nothing less. Sure, he looks like a beast now against OHL or whatever junior league guys and puts up eye-popping numbers. That doesn't mean stud in the NHL.

First offer I have seen that is based in logic. I personally think Rattie will translate into a very good pro, no guarantees with prospects though like you have said.

First I have seen by a blogger, I agree. I have seen two nice ideas from Chicago fans that make sense as well.

You're a pittsburgh fan....you should know better.... Staal was playing top line minutes a lot of nights... and playing top 4 minutes pretty much every night.

He is only a 1st line center on maybe a few teams... would be a solid 2nd liner on a good number of teams... and is a fantastic 3rd liner (the best 3rd liner) on every team.

Staal is overrated offensively... and is a 60 point guy at BEST.

He had 25 goals and 50 points in 63 games playing with Tyler Kennedy and Matt Cook most of the year. Imagine if he played on the power play every once in a while with someone like Neal, or ??? ... 60 points would all the sudden go to 70. I think 70-75 is the max for him in the right situation.

well he averaged the 2nd most even strength minutes on the team this year... so they were definitely using him in other scenarios then... and he was getting pretty decent PP time as well as PK time.

He was on the ice a ton... and Pitts is a pretty offensive oriented team. He isn't exactly a play making center... or a big sniper... he just creates space for other guys and has a pretty good nose for the net. Even if he was playing 1st line minutes with capable wingers... doesn't mean he is guaranteed to get 70 points.

I think giving him a ceiling of 60 points is really selling him short. Only 23 years old and whether his stats bear it or not he has really improved his offensive abilities in the past year and a half. I expect his numbers to continue to climb and I bet they will. Whether or not it is in Pittsburgh is another issue.

bleacher reports said something about if martin and michalek being traded that there are teams that would want them its just if they say yes to it bc martin has a ntc and Z has a nmc.....

if we move these guys and staal ( , even though i want him to stay i think he will be gone) we will have so much money.... we can keep sullivan go after parise, go after some grit guys like zanopka (sp) or prust or some 3rd/4th line grit.... they also said something about tangradi might not be moved and jeffrey getting a shot finally....

we will see in 2 weeks

Without mentioning names, I think the one participant doesnt do a very good job of identifying the needs of both teams involved in the trades.

I was thinking the same thing...

i was thinking, if we trade staal to caro for their 1st, sutter and porspect if we throw in tk and are still able to dump martin and/or Z we will have room for a top winger. I have no problem putting tangradi with sid and that said winger, kuni geno and neal and then sutter playing 3rd line center with dupes...

we use caro's 8 pick to get a winger like forsberg or teravainen and use 22nd pick to get wilson or samuelsson i will be happy....

plus we can always get pearson or zharkov in the later rds.. they are a gamble bc they have fallen out of top 40 picks but atleast we will have some wingers in the system... other then tangradi and jeffrey...

thoughts?

You could see Tangradi's size was giving Philly problems. All the more reason I DO NOT understand why Dan scratched him for the game 6! Arrrggghhhh!!

Dang, you have some high expectation.

As for Tangradi I am not sure the coaching staff will give him that kind of time because even last year when we had injuries he was given fourth line duties so I am not sure what will/has changed over the summer for the staff to have more faith in him.

As for the drafting and trading I don't even want to go there because I don't want to think about the possibility of trading Staal and I doubt we can dump Martin or Z unless we sweeten the deal or take alot of money back.

We need size up front. Tangradi can give us that. Not everyone needs to be fast as Pavel Bure on this team do they? WTF.
