He might be but he makes a solid point. Quick has done a very nice job handling the puck in his own end.
- stveshdy

I was kidding. Puck handling wasn't viewed to be one of Quick's strengths, but he has improved dramatically handling the puck. Every aspect of his game is rock solid. He's having the best post-season any goaltender has ever had.

Can't be taken serious. Gulitti is a "jackass"

Why do you say that? What points that the author makes do you disagree with?

I wouldn't expect anything different from the leader of the team.

I'm down with that. Just not sure where your going to find a true #1 (Weber maybe).

Who else is a true number 1?

- stveshdy

That's the fly in the ointment. They don't come around often, and are hard to get. But if one does come available, you need to flexibility to get it done. Follow the Lombardi path. Be patient and make the right move when/if it becomes available.

I think if a true #1 is available Homer will find a way to fit him into his cap. He has shown he's willing to trade any player if he thinks it's a must.

Just like Homer did when the Ducks were shopping Pronger. Gave up a little of the future. Shame it turned out the way it did for Chris. Homer will do it again.

I can't vote yet, I don't have enough info. I just want a back up goalie whose cap hit is under 1mm. so if the bonus cushion is in the cba keep bob, if not trade him for what he's worth and sign a guy like biron for under a mil.

I don't think patience is one of Holmger's virtues.

With Snider in control Homer doesn't have time to be patient. Snider wants to win now.

I dont understand this... one of them has won a cup, led the league in wins over a 2 season span, and has been a long term starter.. the other has been mediocre, and never a true starter.
- jak521

Yeah, one has played for the last 10 years and the other 2. That's like saying Jagr has more goals than Giroux over the course of his career.... duh his career is longer.

I'm saying Bob has been impressive, grown, and shown more mental toughness in his first 2 years than Bryz. I think he has more athletic ability and when 8 years have passed I think Bob's goaltending in his 30's will be better than Bryz's has been. As long as he doesn't get screwed by being mishandled.

And about those stats (to play Devil's advocate) He won the cup as a backup, losing his starting job he won back to Giggy. His team he did so well with just went further than he's ever taken them in the playoffs. Bob became a rookie starter and has had long periods of playing awesome as well as being as up and down as Bryzgalov.

No mistake, right now Bryz is the better goalie. But I feel Bob will continue to get better. Either with the Flyers or wherever he ends up.

good point

plus, i find the "Lombardi has been patient and calculating and it's finally paying off" narrative humorous. they're playing within a good system and riding on the coattails of an extremely hot goaltender.

Thats actually pretty legit. The Kings were on the verge of not making the playoffs and the GM-Lombardi about to take some serious heat. It's amazing how things can change that fast.

He made some shrewd moves, finally, but only because he was too patient for too long.

Well into January they were averaging the lowest amount of goals per game in the League. They got hot at the right time, and Quick has been other worldly.

Lombardi's patience strategy included firing the coach mid-season.

Yea, I wouldn't say he has been patient. They were real bad for a real long time. Since 2003 they have had a top 15 pick in the first round 8 times.

You can have all the talent in the world but you have to find the right players who can execute your system. Hockey is a team game and its important that every player knows their role.

No question. Every player on the Kings roster is playing their role to a T.

I know you like to get updates on the blueshirts:

Marian Gaborik’s injury could force the Rangers to aggressively pursue Zach Parise. Once you got past Marian Gaborik’s 41 goals, there was precious little to go around in the goal-scoring department for the Rangers this season. Hence, it would make sense for the Blueshirts to pursue the top free agent among forwards – Parise. With Gaborik out up to six months while recovering from rotator-cuff surgery, what would have been a desirable signing might now be viewed as one out of necessity.

I find it silly, much like it sounds you do too, to say that LA's strategy is the way to win a championship. Every year, every team sees which won and thinks, should we have that identity or use that strategy? Luck is involved in a big way and also the timing of events. LA is healthy, Voynov and Doughty have come up huge without Johnson, some good bounces, etc... I don't mean to take away from the hard work and dedication the LA players have shown on the ice. THEY DESERVE TO WIN. I think it is also important to also take a step back and say, it worked this year and because a lot of things fell into place for them. The Flyers have an identity and a strategy. If you disagree with it, cool. I don't. I like the balls to the wall all out. As a fan I feel very fortunate.

Parise will stay in NJ, or sign with Suter in Detroit. That is about the extent of it.

Did you see Kopitar push Parise off the puck like an ant last night, then beat him cold down the ice for the Kings second goal? That was unreal.

I dont understand how you can say a kid who hasnt done anything in this league will be a better net-minder than a guy who is a bonefide upper-echelon goaltender now. I respect your opinion... just seems more like something you want to believe than something that is being shown through play. Bob played very very well to start the year last year, and then saw a slide in his play... a slide that carried over into this season where he had a .899 save% and a 3.02gaa...

EDIT: Yes he is very young and what not, but I wanna see evidence before I can say I think he will be better... right now i dont think it will happen. But I would love to see him stay as a back up and continue to develop.

Kopitar is a superstar. His talent is off the charts. He can do it all.
