what was the question?
- Jeffrey7146

This is the question, it's pretty lame:

"He got more irate when asked if the Devils need to do more offensively.

“Well, I think that’s pretty obvious,” DeBoer said. “Of course, we need more goals. Is that a question or a statement? Are you giving me your opinion on what’s going wrong? Next question.”"

Good for him, I wonder what Torts would have although said but they probably did

I love whe Stan tries to ask Tortorella about specific players. To me, all that should be asked post-games were their thoughts on the game, what they think they could've done right or did wrong at a team, how they need to fix it. There's not really much else that needs to be said that can't be said. For the Devils, they are obviously frustrated, all they needed was that one goal on all the chances they had in the first to completely change the game.

Pretty embarrassing to be swept in the Cup Finals ...
- keatondixon

Not as embarrassing as being favored for the cup and then losing 4-1 in the second round.

I agree with the Poni assessment, he's a good player, I like him, but he's replacable. We need to keep Gionta, Carter, and Bernier. Throw them each 1.5-1 million and have them play the third/fourth line role. For me, I'd love to see these forwards next year on the big squad:

LW: Parise, Elias, Tedenby, Carter
C: Zajac, Henrique, Josefson, Gionta
RW: Kovalchuk, Zubrus, Clarkson, Bernier

I like that line-up. As for defense, I think it's time to give Urbom, Taormina, and maybe as a longshot Gelinas, their chance, but Tallinder is blocking the way.

Greene-Fayne
Volchenkov-Larsson
Tallinder-Zidlicky
Taormina/Harrold/Urbom

Choose between Taormina or Harrold and they will be our reliable 7th defensemen. This teams future is bright if we manage to retain that fourth line.

EDIT: Why does capgeek have the cap at 70.3 million, is that the official rise or projected?

- _Zippy_

I think the cap increases as a fixed rate based on the amount of money the league makes but I'm not exactly sure. I'll have to review some of the CBA later when I'm less (frank)ing tired.

It increases based on league wide revenues if I remember quickly. Players get 57% of the revenues with the current CBA. I'd expect it to go down tho.

I highly doubt carter, gionta and bernier get over 1 million.
Also if deboer doesn't breakup parise-zajac-kovy for next game than he's highly delusional because it hasn't worked ever. Also I hope he plays larsson

Those people are likely assuming the cba stays the same. There is a legitimate chance the owners are going to want a 50/50 split. If they get it the cap will go down.

That's why it'll all stay the same for the most part.

nothing other then the 4th line has worked

he has shown that he is a great coach and knows what he is doing, he coached the team to the finals, and well its not his fault that we have no finish

I think the league can decide to raise it, and the NHLPA has a clause to raise it 5% if they want.

I like Radulov. Don't know why. And I think he'll play great with Kovy and Henrique. Sue me

Only UFAs I want to go after would be Suter, and maybe Doan. Don't think either will be available to us though.

We need somebody that can win face offs. I have never seen a team be so spectacularly bad at something.

Henrique and Jo are rookies they will be better next year in the dot. We need more size and speed on the wings...

idk if Doan would be the answer either. He's 35.. we'd give him, what a 3 year deal max?? 5 mil cap hit? He's a great player but he will continue to slow down. Parise-Zajac-Doan would be like an upgraded ZZPops line with even more grit and fire.
Elias-Henrique-Doan would be interesting too. . possibly slow too.

doesn't matter. Detroit will go hard after Suter, and Parise. Phoenix will keep Doan.

Its Poni/Sykora out- one of our kids in. That should be the only change to the roster, unless we do end up going after a RW with finish and speed.

True. Maybe gaustad, but who do we kick off the fourth line? I definitely think Zajac, Henrique, and JJ deserve the top 3 center spots.

Didn't realize Doan was 35. Only short term.

ZZPops was a sick line, we need to get a good RW like Langs in his last 2 good years with us. Don't think Doan would be an upgrade. Langs produced 69 and 61 points on that line. Doan is more of a 50 point player with Phoenix but even at that I have my doubts about how much he would produce with 2 solid players. Not sure he would be worth the $4.5 million+ he will get.
