I flat out disagree that we left it all. The effort is there, the chances are there, the finish isn't. LA has managed to finish the chances they've had, and that's where they are victorious. The first two games and this game was competitive. Until LA scored the second goal, and arguably the third goal, the Devils were right there with them, if not playing better. It's awfully deflating when you dominate a good portion of the game, for another team to come down and score such a seemingly simple goal.

Playing against the top 2 goalies back to back, I guess its not surprising the offense dried up.

well when your relying on a Russian to provide a large part of your offense, this is what you get...

I don't know if you're trolling with such a retarded opinion, but Kovy was leading the playoffs in scoring going into tonight. All with a herniated disc. He did his part.

...pretty embarrassing to be swept in the Cup Finals

Pretty embarrassing for you that I can't even remember what month it was that Flyers played their last game.

Gotta be honest, I'd rather lose in the 2nd round than get swept in the Finals.
- feelingkettle

I'd rather lose to a team we play twice in a season than to a team that we see 10 times.

im not excusing kovy, as he was a big reason why we got to the finals even with his injury, but he does need to pick it up, the injury is def slowing him down and it looks like he is playing like he did before he missed game 2 of the flyers series, but he needs to step up

parise, not many excuses he needs to get back to his game and start firing the team up if he isnt going to get on the score-sheet, do something productive, he seems to be shooting from bad angles, just like most of the team and right into the chest of quick like everyone else, yes quick is a very good goalie top 3 but other then 2-3 good chances in a game where its usually on a mistake by a king we really haven't challenged quick much this series, its like we are too tentative, looking for the perfect shot

elias, where has he been during the playoffs? sure he made a few nice defensive plays but he is there for offense too

yes the kings have a very good system and a top goalie, but this is the finals, show more determination, dig down and fight for your space, and just because the kings scored 2 doesnt mean give up, but in reality we are just looking for the perfect plays rather then getting it to the net and making it happen, we dont have the pointmen who have a booming shot or a great deflectable shot so while it is very good to set that up from time to time you cant set your offensive game around that every play

Im not really surprised Kovy's offense has gone dry. He's hurt, been hurt, Kings are a physical team that really limits your space, and then there's quick. Its been disappointing, but when all 5 players on the powerplay are on a different page, it kills the only time Kovy would have space. Parise been the one with the open nets missed, we're shooting for deflections and the few he did get dont' seem to get off the ground. Elias can't find his groove. Zajac has been far too timid and indecisive compared to previous series. Clarkson has worse accuracy than Brian Rolston right now, Poni is playing way too soft, its really the whole team. As I said, not surprised in hindsight that our offense has gone dry when playing the top 2 goalies back to back.

I missed the third, what happened?

(fart noise)

Let's face it. No team is a brick wall, but in terms of match-up, the Kings are pretty darn close to it for the Devils. Even if Kovy is nursing something serious , its not the point. The Kings knows how to play their game and make the necessary adjustments to counter punch their opponents each and every round.

They seem content to weather any storm in their end own end, no matter how long the Devils sustain the forecheck, and then simply break the play open with a fast break.

As close as the first two games were, this is a back breaker. A statement.

I'd love to say that after an unexpected run to the Finals that "we're just happy to be here", but I really hoped for more from the Devils. They look tired and Kings have jump. The can't convert and the Kings do.

And now to pull off the impossible...

I thought up until the first goal tonight, we were getting enough chances to win games, neither teams were getting a lot of chances, we just weren't executing on our shots. Parise, Fayne missed open nets. Tonight, Clarkson shoots it low on a 2-on-1, Elias makes a nice pass to Parise right in front and he can't get it off the ice.

I'm not giving up but it's obviously looking bleak. The better team is winning right now and that's that. Besides Quick, the skill level of their "size" players is just giving us fits, as it has other teams the whole playoffs. Kopitar's skill level is amazing, but his defensive prowess is really unique in such a big and offensively skilled center.
- BarryB1124

I've been saying this for a long time.. as far as a complete game goes, Kopitar is top ten in the league, arguably top 5 all around game.

Ignore the trolls guys. Honestly, who cares.

It looks like we won't be winning the cup. Heck we might even get swept. But i'm damn (frank)ing proud of this team regardless. This cup run has been so much fun for me. The thrilling game 6 and game 7 overtime wins in round 1, the domination of Philly and proving all the critics wrong, and then the third round... we all know that story. Epic.

So seriously, keep your heads high Devils fans. And there's still another game (at least one more game) to be played.

NJ fans, its not over yet, but damn...

I almost feel bad for you guys. The Devils have played good up until maybe the second goal we scored in this series. Kings just have a better finish than you guys.

I'm not going to sit here and troll like some other guys, and I know you don't care, but you've had a great run to get here and I think you've just run into a team with more size, more drive, and more finish.

It doesn't mean poop, but you've played a good series just can't score on the (frank)ing amazing play of Quick. What will it take for you guys to shoot high? Damn man, everyone watching knows it except the Devils.

Ive known it for years. hes always been one of my favorite players. Hes a different kind of superstar player ya know like hes not a flashy or anything hes smooth and is good at wherever he is lol. Good for him hes carried that team for years. my opinion would be him for mvp but quick is also up there too..

Yeah. Its him or Quick hands down.

I'm favoring Quick, but I wouldn't be disappointed if its Kopitar. I don't want to get too far ahead, we still need to win one more. Weirder things have happened.

I haven't liked a player as much as Parise since Neidermayer. I really hope he stays. Will be devastating if he doesn't.... as an outsider, what do you think he'll do?

I agree, I'm finding it hard to really hate any Devils... They seem like a good group of guys. Even down 4-0 in the last few minutes tonight they were all still skating hard.

You have to respect that.
