i see parise and kovy having a big game...everyone says the kings arent playing as well as they have all postseason...has anyone thought that might be due to...i dont know...the devils? i think if we can light up quick tonight that we will be not only on the way to a great comeback...but we put a ton of pressure on the kings especially if we get quick thinking too hard about his play...because he's the only king player thats flat out beating us...from what i saw in game 2 we're right on the cusp of figuring out quick...one of the saves he made was with the very bottom of the edge of his skate...i dont care who you are thats a lucky save...and during both games we've been able to take him out of position pretty regularly leading to gaping nets that we didnt bury *fayne clarkson* - Xnightwish
Drew Doughty?
You haven't had Quick out of position pretty regularly either. That's how Quick plays. I can understand why you'd think that way because you don't see him play every game, but that is how he plays thanks to his lateral quickness, etc. |

There's no doubt Gagne is uber talented. The concerns I have is that Gagne hasn't played a game in months and barely had a chance to learn Murray's system, let alone Sutter's. Knowing how it works is one thing, executing it is another.
I just don't know if game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals is the right time to bring in a player who hasn't played for months, especially when you're up 2-0. That's why I post dumb poop on blogs and Sutter makes the money as a coach. - StayTunedMTC
He's replacing RICHARDSON.. on what, the 4th line??? He'll be effective in that role, regardless of the system. Work hard, win battles, play 2 way hockey. |

I hear you.
I'm worried about how effective of a 2 way game he'll have being gone for so long.
I'm not a "change for the sake of changing" kind of guy.
I hope for the best though. He's a top 6 playing on the freakin 4th line. |

Great points again Todd. One shift, one period, one game at a time. If the Devils look at is as needing to beat the Kings 4 out of 5 (which I am sure as professionals they are not) it seems daunting. Winning one game at a time should be the mantra. Need to return the favor and steal one on their ice. then worry about stealing another.
We're not done yet.

Yeah, Drew Doughty was really good on that soft goal by Marty and on the turnovers and bad penalties he took. He's been totally ruining us offensively and defensively. |

Yeah, because Drew Doughty didn't skate by 4 of your guys and rip one past Marty's weak spot, nor did he play great defense shutting you guys down all night, nor did he get the assist at the end.
Every commentator is wrong about Drew Doughty, only you have true insight.
So you're right, Drew Doughty sucked. Only Quick has outplayed the Devils. No other player on the Kings can match your worst players game so far.
I'm a bit worried about you. Are you usually drunk this early in the day? Or is this like a "get drunk to calm the pain" type of deal? |

Drew Doughty has been playing great, doesn't deserve criticism for his play. He has had a big 2 points so far. He hasn't been dominant offensively or anything but he has been solid in every area. Probably has been the best player so far in the finals other than Quick. |

I'm all for rooting for your team and all that, but stupid is stupid.
For someone to say the Devils have outplayed all the Kings but Quick is just... I'll just call it funny.
Both teams haven't played their best, this series could be 2-0 you or 1-1, and you're definitely not out of it yet. 3-0, maybe, but for sure not 2-0 or 2-1.
Good luck to you guys tonight. I don't want you to win, but you guys aren't a dirty team and I can respect that, as well as I respect a lot of the players on your team. |

The games have been close but that doesn't mean anything. A 2-0 whole is large regardless of how you have played. We made mistakes on both goals, obviously there were many on the first goal by Kopitar. In the ot goal in game 2 they gave Carter too much time and space with the puck, can't let that happen again. We need to score early and first. |
|
|
|
You also have to remember that the Kings were considered underdogs up until around game 3 of the Phoenix series.
That being said, I think this series gets (for the most part) decided tonight. If the Kings win then I think it will go 5 games at the most but if the Devils win then we're probably looking at 6 or 7 games and a fresh series.
GO KINGS GO!!!!! - Anjin
I absolutely agree -- I'm not meaning to take anything away from the Kings. But the Kings never let themselves get behind in any series, or even behind in score this current series.
If the Devils score first, or even put two on the board tonight, it'll at least test the Kings mettle. The Devils are 2nd in road wins this playoffs. Its doable.
In terms of game play, this series is WAY too close for the Devils to go down 0-3.
Let's see some frowning celebrities on the screen tonight. |

I hope to God they don't play that stupid Cartman "Go Kings Go."
Whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be tarred and feathered. |

THIS. We're down 2-0, but we've been so close to winning both of those games. I will be shocked if they get into an 0-3 hole. DEVILS WIN, TONIGHT! |

On the last goal, we were picture perfect until (Penner?) jumped on the ice, on the far side, the two defensemen and the forward back, I believe it was Bernier limited them to nothing. One forward changes, Penner jumps on, recieves the puck, and now we get caught running around, and then the next thing you know it, we all bunch down low because the puck was loose in the crease and Carter has room in the slot.
That play was more unfortunate then the mistakes, almost like Poni's OT goal in game three. |

You make perfect sense.
I'm a white night because I'm calling you out at your lack of a hockey IQ.
Brilliant logic by a brilliant man.
No, they weren't calling him Lidstrom. He has been compared to Scott Niedermayer by many, many unbiased and respected people. Not saying I agree or disagree, but your sarcasm fails you at times due to your stronger lack of knowledge outside of your Devils. |

This sucks.
We're all over them, but the Kings are great defensively. They are just going man-on-man and we can't find a way to beat them. They are really high on the points, not giving us that outlet. Our forwards have to beat the three guys down low cleanly to open up plays. The PP wasn't that bad either, a couple of good chances, an unfortunate bounce and a good penalty to take at that point by Zidlicky. We played well on the 4-on-4 too, we just need the first goal somehow. On the breakout, they are negating our forecheck which we flock to the puck-side by getting the far side wing or defenseman in the passing lane on the opposite side of the ice with time and space. |

Remember early on in the Rangers series when we just couldn't get anything clean past Hank, and it seemed like we were DOOMED? And once we did we gained a ton of confidence and it changed the series? That can happen tonight in this series. We score first, and it will be like a monkey off our back and will carry us to victory. I have faith! GET THAT 1-0 LEAD! |
