I know. I hate it.
A closer feeds off that adrenaline rush of "saving" the game. It's just the way it is. It's not there in a non save situation. It's not the same mindset. And they get knocked around.
I hate seeing Chuck call the closer out in a tie game in the top of the 9th at home. Hate it. I blow a gasket every time.
And I know it's not only the Phils, but what do I care if other teams do it for- especially if the Phightins are playin them - Giroux_Is_God
I agree with that a lot of times. But it's still done.

not surprised by these finals...I liked LAs d and goalie by a wide margin.
I'm also not squeamish watching the kings beat the NJ like a drum, I'm lovin it. I think most of us here liked the trades we made and we recognized that carter and Richards weren't likely to get it done here as the lead dogs. sometimes trades are just what certain plyrs need to take that nxt step. add to that, Richards wasn't exactly sterling during the reg season and carter had his annual foot injury earlier in the yr...also don't mind seeing gags get his name on the cup.
go LA - isaiah520
You would figure most teams would have an advantage over a 40 year old, Fayne, Salvador, Harrold and Company..... |

I don't think overall they are embarrassing bc the games were close. However tonight they got destroyed/dominated and that can be embarrassing. Its only one game but that game tonight was pretty much the series. - stveshdy
They were outplayed, but not embarrassed in my opinion.

Hi.
Very happy for Simon Gagne, hope the Kings finish them now.
Carter, Richards, John Stevens, Justin Williams, Hexy too.
But really happiest for Gagne, getting into the series and getting a cup (hopefully). |

Right. We're on the same page..... ..............I hate it. I always will. I'll criticize any manager that does it.
But guess what? It's never gonna change. It's just gonna be one of those pet peeves. Yay |

Thats fair. Tonights game was a "must" win for the Devils and they got handled. The Kings are just a better team and theres nothing the Devils can do about it. |

The additions of Carter and Richards have set up that entire team dynamic. It has enabled the Kings to move players into roles that they are best suited fo. An example is having Stoll as a 3rd line Center instead of a 2nd line Center. And Carter adds that big goal scoring Winger dynamic to the team. As well as Carter and Richards fitting in well to the Kings style because they are both strong defensively. Add that to what the kings already had which was very strong, and you've got a great team. - MJL
Exactly. And Richards and Carter are more comfortable being second fiddles in this mix too imo. Sutter deserves a ton of credit for getting the most out of all his players since he took over. I never saw this coming when he took over. I predicted a mutiny. Credit to him for getting everyone to buy in 100%. |

Agreed. And when the Kings do make a mistake which is rare. Quick is there to erase it. |

One year too late. I wanted him last off season. I know he got hurt, but still. He had good numbers this season. I was really hoping he could carry us for 2-3 seasons as Bob came along. Pit is going to be a handful next season. No more ridiculous playoffs like this season. |

Exactly, there's no need to analyze it. Los Angeles got hot at the right time, and has been the best team in the playoffs, by far.
They were a hot knife through butter against the best teams in the West and now they're one game from sweeping the Devils. |

As much as I dont want to see Richards and Carter win, I'll take anything over watching that team winning. I can't stand the NY Rangers or their fans. |

I thought Gagne looked pretty decent when he got out there. I'm happy for him.
Lots of people were questioning Sutter for bringing in Gagne, but I think it was a pretty good move to do it now. If the series went awry and game 6 or 7 rolled around, I'd rather have a Gagne with a couple games under his belt than Richardson, or bring Gagne in cold then. He's just a solid, smart player... isn't going to hurt you no matter how long he's been out. |

One of the most impressive and overlooked aspect to the Kings success is the play of their 3rd D pairing. Very steady and reliable. |

Yea that's a solid move. It's amazing and perhaps telling that this guy is getting $2million. I must be delusional but I still think he's a starter on some teams, but apparently the league thinks otherwise. |

Blocking shots, and having a lockdown goalie only takes you so far, they have zero secondary scoring. If Gaborik, Richards, and Callahan go into a funk, they have zero guys to pick up the slack. |

Everything they do is working. The team is in a zone and the goaltender is out of this world. The Devils just arent as good its that simple. |

It helps to get the support they get from the forwards. I love the Kings Center breakout.
