What the heck is going on in Pittsburgh? They got a steal in Vokoun for 2 yrs/4 Million total.
That's how you avoid overpaying for a goalie. Kudos to the Penguins. |

damn, seems like he's been gone forever already. - aightwebang17
He has. Starting from the injured hand in 2011, played like 1 playoff game, and a handfull a games this year... He probally missed about a season and a half over the last 2 years....
Just looked it up... played just 63 out of the last 164 games... |

Thoughts on adding Wideman anyone? Guess at cap hit? - coffee junkie
I wouldn't be opposed to it. I just think hes going to get paid rather well in free agency. |

ESPN always has an agenda. I'm sure the Rangers are interested but so are 29 other teams. - NickTheKid87
sure there are several teams in the mix to land him...it's only natural to jack up his value. I think the truth is, he has his own mix of teams and we won't find out who they are until the the SCF are over...at the earliest. |

That is a lot and who knows, that could be what the deals could come to. I was only thinking from a Defensemen perspective, I think they have a few young guys they could throw in there. Del Zotto, Exiron?, Dubinsky, picks.......it's gonna be bananas if Nashville opens up the bargaining table, and entertaining - aosplayo
It is a lot. But we are talking potentially the best D-man for the next 10 years. |

not bad money to be a back up...i don't see him being the starter over the The Flower...plus with Holtby coming onto the scene, the Caps wanted to get some value over their failed signing last year. More kudos with the Caps. Vokoun might be on the downside of his career. By by Johnson |

I think $2m is a lot for a backup, no?

I'm not sure they have more to offer. Without consideration to NTC's we could offer JVR, Coburn, a 1st, and a throw in like Simmonds or Read.
I would do that deal assuming Weber would be long term.
Let silly season begin. - Daman
The Rangers could offer Stepan, Hagelin, McDonaugh, Del Zotto, etc. |

Its a good deal, but Vokuon is 35 coming off groin problems, I'm not so sure he is anything more then a back-up at this stage of his career. |

Ugh, it is silly season. Just read on ESPN the Rangers may try to land Weber. Im sure a ton of teams will try to land Weber, us included, I just would puke if he went there, and sadly they have more to offer than us imo. - aosplayo
I Dont think Rangers can afford to go after Weber with Gaborik being out until maybe December-January... I would expect them to go after Nash before Gaborik. |

The Rangers have allegedly contacted the Predators about acquiring talented but enigmatic winger Alexander Radulov. With sniper Marian Gaborik likely to miss the first few months of the season due to shoulder surgery, the Rangers are looking for a dynamic scorer. Radulov certainly fits the bill. The Russian winger is a group II free agent who has a lucrative offer to return to Russia to play in the KHL. However, if a deal can be worked out between the Rangers and Preds, New York has the money and cache to lure Radulov to the Big Apple. Stay tuned.

I wouldnt mind Radulov either if the price is right. If you can get him for like a Prospect and a conditional pick (if he signs) I don't see a problem with going after him. Now he would be a dynamic winger for Giroux.... |

That is potential poison...but if the price is right I would consider it. He said all the right things after totally failing miserably to be a team player in the POs. I just hope Homer would have a long sit down with him first to ensure he is 100% committed...and nothing long term on the contract!
Anyone else have thoughts on Wideman? Bill? |

Honestly, I think the rags would be better served getting more than 3 forwards that can score. |

I think we can be more thankful to Pit and Wash for this. With Thomas deciding not to play next year, and Vokoun now signed with Pittsburgh, this makes the rest of the goalies out there a little more valuable. Maybe the Flyers may be able to move Bob after all. The only starter on the market is Loungo... Some second teir guys like Biron, Clemmensen, Auld, and Nabakov...
And I dont think LA is going to trade Bernier when Quick is scheduled to be UFA next season. After these playoffs he is going to cost a fortune, and negotiations might get tough... |

The Columbus Blue Jackets have reportedly been contacted about the possibility of a Rick Nash deal from teams that aren't on Nash's preferred list of destinations. Nash has a no-trade clause, so he has a lot of control over the situation. However, he does really want to leave Columbus and the Blue Jackets reach an agreement with a team not on his list, Nash might agree to the trade anyways.

Quick is the best goalie in hockey. LA will break the bank if they have to. Especially if he has a big shiny SC ring and a Conn Smythe.
But point taken on the goalie market, things have gotten very interesting over the past 2 days.

i think in someways that's what the team needs. They need people to grow into their roles and to add a piece here and there not to revamp the whole roster. |
