Isn't he doing that by "taking a year off?" - RooNosHockey
No, he still will have a year on his deal that he owes the Bruins which will pay him 3M.

As long as there is no NMC there is no huge risk. You can waive him easy a pie. And if he doesnt pass, money is gone. If he does pass... Money is gone... |

Right... and you think he is going to play? They will just trade him then if this was just a stunt to keep from being traded now... It doesnt change the fact they could trade him later... |

First of all why do you keep mentioning a NMC. There couldn't be one. Secondly, how is there no risk? You would have to trade foe him. And you risk losing those assets if he doesn't perform. You also risk losing that Cap space that you could've used on someone else. So how is there no risk?

why do that when you forego the much stronger possibility of bringing in a player that will be a regular contributor, positive influence and impact? IF Radulov wanted to stay in the NHL so bad he would have done it years ago. I'm not anywhere near convinced he's learned his lesson nor should any GM especially Holmgren, I'm really done with this now, you want to go for him, be my guest but imo the Flyers should have learned their lesson already, cough Zheredev. |

Your right. But the guy doesn't seem all there. So I don't know what is going through his head. But he is scheming something.

that's the other thing I keep forgetting he's an RFA which makes it a non issue as far as I'm concerned. If we were in the middle of a season where the team just needed a little bit of offense and that guy was sitting on waivers with a half a season remaining undercontract then maybe but otherwise no thanks, I'm moving on now. |

Well, Firstly the asking price is pretty low. Plus you can set up conditional terms in the trade... if he signs, and if he plays x many games...
Secondly, Parise will give you 30 goals and 60 points at mostlikely somewhere near 7 to 7.5 million... If Radulov performs like he can, he should be able to do about the same for less then half the cap hit.
And if he doesn't, you can waive him and there is your extra cap space. |

Thats one where he states it is not about money. He also mentions about being happy. In his blog he makes mention of it more in depth. I am on my phone which makes it difficult to do research. A google search should help. |

Firstly, how do you know what the asking price is? And in my opinion, if they're asking for Jody Shelley, that's too high of a price. Exaggeration yes, but it illustrates my point.
Secondly, Parise playing on the Flyers will give you far more then 30 goals and 60 points. Not to mention that you would be adding a proven player who plays with heart and soul and whose work ethic and character can't be questioned. So you couldn't be more off base there.
And who cares about waiving him. With the Flyers using LTIR they can't bank Cap space. And that space will already be spent that could've been used for another player.
There is a lot of risk there. And it's not worth taking. |

I'll make you a friendly bet. If an NHL team picks up Radulov, he will score more goals then everyone that is an UFA this year except Semin and Parise. No money, just friendly "I told you so" next off-season. |

It's not just about scoring goals. That is great when you have players who can score but there's a lot more to it then that and the Flyers are not a team in need of goals. |

Exactly Joe. So much more to the game then scoring goals. Flyers don't have problems scoring goals.
