exactly...imagine if Bryz said, "I'm not playing next year because I want to concentrate of family, friends and the humogusness of the universe"

Can someone list the rules for a retirement? In other words, for a 35+ player that decides to retire, do they get paid on their contract? (I would hope not).

Do they still have their salary count against the cap (I believe so).

Depending on the answers to the above, it sounds as if the Bruins want to maintain his rights or at least their relationship, and have to take the cap hit. But I guess it is only one year. Not sure why they would legally have to pay him.

agreed. you would think he would try to fake an injury and give the damn Bs an LTIR allowance. oh, what do i care. I love it that they have to eat a $5Mpoopsandwich.
- FlyersFirst

Yea he's really sticking it to them. I guess being the Stanley Cup winning goalie gives him some leeway. Still I can't see how he couldn't just come out and try to play. Welp apparently you can still win with a head case for a goalie

Next time, don't take amateur commentary on the actions of a contracted employee's actions as advice on voluntary employment

I think it depends on why a player over 35+ retires. If it's injury related, you still incur the cap hit (a la Pronger) but I'm not 100% sure if that's true for guys who leave the game on their on terms.

i seem to also remember him having some good seasons there especially his last playoff series I think he put a bunch of points but that was 5 years ago so I'm hazy on that. Either way I know there was some buzz about him being a prima-donna but for the most part Jagr has been an elite player through two decades and could have retired 10 years ago and still be a hall of famer, its definitely a weak comparison.
- JoeRussomanno

I wasnt compairing Jagr and Radulov, I was pointing out that perceptions of players isn't always accurate. I heard that Jagr was a Prima-donna, and he would quit during games and just cherry pick. After this year, I dont believe that. Just like some people's perceptions of Zherdev were dead on.

I guess I'm just more of a gambler then you guys. I would rather trade next to nothing and sign Radulov to like a 3.5 million contract for 1 year, and hope he can be a positive guy like Jagr turned out to be, then try to sign Parise for 7 million for 8 years....

Prolly should just move to Boston... they dont recognize him without his equipment. (paging Peggy).

ROlf I will say tho if Bryz won a cup and then did this yes he'd get some leeway, not much but I think physical harm would be out of the question. Still get his house egged tho. Hey Cole Hamels gets booed out of the stadium if he has a bad game still.

I think the perception of Radulov is pretty accurate. Guy left to go to KHL while under contract, then breaks his curfew during a playoff run and forces the coach to suspend him, don't ever remember that being the case with Jagr.

Not all decisions teams make are good ones. But the jury is still out on that one. Another example of a bad potential move is a team like the Flyers spinning the dice with a malcontent player such as Radulov.

Jury is in. Leino is guilty of extortion, Felony Larceny, and flagrent false advertising.

Bill Clement practically said the same thing when I talked to him that day. If Bryz wins a cup the city will lvoe him... I said yea until he makes his next mistake.

One of the reasons I hate 60% of Philadelphia sports fans.

I think Cole Hamels should have a lifetime pass from booing here, but that's just me. Even if people think that's too much okay but booing the guy two years after being named World Series MVP because he loses on opening day was just embarrassing to the rest of us.

If he doesn't get resigned, Amaro will be hearing the boos...

And I agree, it was a disgrace when Hamels was booed.

The Kid had/has some problems. The question is, are they something that can be worked around or not? Maybe he just needs to be coached, and not just on the ice. He isn't the first player to break curfew, or to fall off dry-island. He was a league/team MVP in KHL. He had to get that somehow. I think he left Russia as a kid, and after a long time away snapped and made a mistake. I would welcome someone with his talent on my team as long as he didn't pull the stuff that got him in trouble.

I can understand friendly booing like when Burrell came back. First AB he gets a standing O and after that he gets booed. McNabb should have gotten the same treatment but he got all boos. Burrell did win a World Series the year before though...

that's all well and good but the Flyers aren't starving for offense and that's what Radulov brings. I'm pretty sure it's been highlighted his lack of defensive game, a certain Keith jones rant comes to mind, therefore in addition to all the other baggage I would implore my favorite team's front office to address the real issues with the team and leave any possible derogatory player to the other 29 teams.

What happens if the Flyers sign Radulov and he retires right away? Is there a cap hit?

Do we have a lot to talk about, or nothing to talk about?

Good day all.

then he is an A-1 ahole for pulling this stunt!. He could go with the flow let Boston trade him get some value, then pull his shenanigans elsewhere. Instead he sticks it to the team that saw him through good times and bad. What a J-O.
