Ballsy by Thomas considering how little value people put into family and God these days.

I will back anyone who stands up for what they believe in, even if I disagree.

WHO?
Thomas has been a very solid goalie... but this decision to not play definitely hurts his "rep".

But that being said he is his own person and a grown up. But his signature is on his contract and he agreed to the length.

Thomas is afraid he'll get outplayed by rask and be a career backup goalie.

Agree

People take this stuff way too seriously. It's his life. Nothing better than having control of one's life, and having the resources with which to live life on one's own terms.

He's 38. How much of a career do you think he has left? Also, he's won a Cup. Call him what you want, but he won it.

Thomas became weird. It's cool to have opinions and everything, but this is a little over the top.
- laughs2907

Yeah, what a weirdo, valuing his family and friends over his career.

I can feel sympathy for Bruins over this bizarre turn of events, but on behalf of the Senators and Eastern Conference teams in general, I must say this is excellent news.

Not that there's necessarily a huge drop off between Thomas and Rask, but the Sens were just murdered the past couple years by Thomas.

Yup, my thoughts exactly. Thomas has ridiculous amount of poise, Tuukka can be a bit of a basketcase at times. When he's on, he's dominant. When there's doubt, it's no fun for the Bruins. I mean, at this very moment Rask is known best as being goaltender that blew 3-0 series lead. The silver lining in all of this is that the Bruins do have an NHL capable backup in Anton Khudobin. But still, he's no Thomas.

Like when he storms off the ice after a loss, or has temper tantrums, or when he breaks his sticks after goals???? The guy is a nut job. Let in some soft goals this post season. Let it be Raasks team now

Lots of players have families but you honor your contract or retire. Not stiff your team for the cap hit cause timmy needs to find himself and get closer to god. Be a man and handle your poop and retire. You can always pull a hasek later if u change ur mind

Thomas off the market just raises Luongo's stock.

I said next year , we have Booth until he is ready.

Also stars that played for the Leafs have not panned out well for Canucks .Wellwood Sundin.

- VANTEL

Wellwood you got on waivers! And Sundin was in the twighlight of his career, and he showed up half way through the year. And 8 points in 8 playoff games probably would've looked nice this season against the kings....

I think Nik would do very well with the sedins. And if you'd take Booth over Nik, I think you're nuts.

I agree with what you said... Wellwood and Sundin were good for us at times... and Sundin was a great mentor for Kes. They wern't here that long.. so its hard to really say one way or another.

If you take cap into consideration I would probably prefer Nik... but if cap was not an issue... Booth is the better player.
