Dale Hawerchuk, Mats Sundin, Mike Gartner and Adam Oates never won a cup. Luongo has been in the Vezina conversation for ten freaking years. Name a goalie other than Roy who's been more consistent. Tell me? He's a hall of famer and he's got another seven years left. - Boinker

Then Pressbox Ballard is sent down to the Chicago Wolves and we use his 4.2M until we fnd the right suitor for LU.
easy to type about burying 4.2 million in the minors when your not the one flushing your money down the terlit
I'm the owner of the nucks.. the gm comes and says "hey, can I trade this one goalie for an asset, albiet a small one and match this offer for schneider? or can I take 4.2 million of your dollars and wipe my crack with it instead?" mmmnnnnnn - ChrisMS
Do you realize how much money the Aquilinis spend on the team. They pretty much gave Gillis a blank cheque. They would be fine with burying Ballard in the minors until they find a proper offer for one of there goalies. But that wouldn't happen because Ballard is still a good player and many teams would gladly take him for free. |

Luongo, Ballard, and Raymond for the rights to Franson, Kulemin, and Komi. Canucks then bury Komi in the minors. - Chest Rockwell
The Leafs have 0 use for Ballard given his salary and the abundance of D they already have. They would much rather keep Franson.
The Leafs also have 0 use for a soft winger in Raymond who spends more time on his back and knees than a hooker in Vancouver's downtown eastside.
Thanks, but the Leafs can have Luongo for much less! |

I promise Ballard will be gone this year and free up 4.2. Whether on loan to Europe ,salary dump trade or buried. We will not have a 4.2 M in the press box again this year.At least if he is playing on the Wolves he has some value .Sitting in the pressbox he had no value . |

First of all.....good luck on the links.
Secondly......no matter how much Gillis likes him, he has to get rid of that contract and if not that's a distraction for the team going forward. Unless of course he deals Schneider, which will get him a much better return. Just not sure he'd rather do that.
Thirdly......Toronto is a world class city and regardless of the media scrutiny, a fantastic place to play hockey, many players have stated. Not to mention the fact the Leafs have a much better outlook going forward than Columbus does. And a UFA has a choice to go anywhere, so yeah they go to a contender. But someone like Luongo, who has choices but limited options, I'm sure he'd choose Toronto over Columbus....as would 90% of NHL players. - Phenom
Toronto is a world class city, I agree. A beautiful one at that! But you don't know what's going through Lu's head, maybe he's sick and tired of the media and the scrutiny? He could just as easily say no to Toronto as yes to Columbus. I've no idea what's going to happen, I don't think Toronto is the one and only destination for him though. |

Toronto is really in a great situation ...they get to choose from one of the 3 overrated, nut case has beens...Luongo, Thomas or Hasek.
Get excited Leaf fans... - keatondixon
Or pass on all 3....Its nice to be able to walk away from a 50 million dollar contract...instead of having an overrated Bryz with 10 year left
If burke wants a Vet, sign a Vokoun or another FA for 2 years... not 10 ...

So you actually think Komisarek straight up would be enough? You would have to add something. Is Reimer really that elite goalie you've been looking for. It doesn't look like Kadri and Toronto is fitting that's why I added him. Maybe the 1st round was too much but at least a 2nd has to be thrown in there. But honestly I thought
To Toronto: Roberto Loungo, Van 1st round draft pick 2012
To Vancouver: Nasim Kadri, Mike Komisarek, Tor 3rd round draft pick 2012.
was fair. Toronto has to give up something, Komisarek is nothing but a salary dump he's not a hot commodity that Toronto's holding on to he's a salary dump. - sheam316

From rookie season until current/end season. Find me a more consistent goalie over a ten year span. Not to mention he's only once ever played in a defensive system. 06/07 Canucks when they sucked and he took them to the second round only to lose to the eventual cup champs Ducks. |

Yeah ok...it's "widely known" because you said it?
He's going to the other bottom five lottery team, Columbus...much better fit. As I said earlier, why would he care if it's Columbus or Toronto. Neither team is any good, but he'll be the #1 for sure. - LeftCoaster
Columbus has less media pressure. goalie for goalie swap and pick.
but could thomas land in columbus........ |

Well, with that theory, none of us really know, we can only speculate. But, various reports have Toronto on his list of go-to teams....Columbus has not been mentioned once. As for the other teams supposedly on his list, not many are in the market for a goalie....Toronto seems to be the best of the few options on the table....which may actually be the only reason they are even on the list in the first place. I'm sure if the NYR or Detroit or Philly or Boston were in need of a goalie, Toronto would be nowhere near that list. |

Nobody should be disputing hes a good #1 option for a team that needs one... its the stupid 10 year contract... Van put themselves in this situation by trying to cheat the system... so pay the consequences and Keep him or move him for a cap dump and spare parts... you are not getting a lottery pick for that abomination

How many HOF goalies are there that have never won a Vezina or a Stanley Cup? Luongo does have great consistency but without those don't think he gets in the Hall. If he goes to Toronto his cup chances go way down. |

Our media have said there is no deal with TO. In fact they are telling us to expect CBJ.
A deal could be done between Tor/Van but it won't be a salary dump for TO only, as some fans suggest. Van does need a RHD or two but it would not be Kumi for Lu straight up. Gillis would be roasted if he did that. |

His or his families...and you're right...there will probably be 3-5 teams who legit kick the tires on the guy.
If you can get the deal done cheap then you do it. Otherwise you watch someone else overpay or Vancity has to deal with a headache the whole year.
I think Vancouver has no choice but to do something about this now as it would encompass the whole season. Reporters would never stop asking the Question and eventually it would weight too heavily on the team.
Lou will be moved...Toronto is an option. But you're right...it's definitely not the only one. |
