I'm thinking for TO Kadri, Komisarek and Toronto's 1st for Lou plus maybe Vancouver's 1st maybe or a lower pick.
We have to remember that Lou is a Gold medal winner and almost won a Stanley Cup and he has struggled but he is a elite goalie where as Komisarek would be a money dump for Toronto and he has been hot and cold this season being benched in some games, Kadri and the 1st would be the real deal. - sheam316
Are you on crack? Bath Salts? Seriously? Is it more potent out there?
There's not a snowballs chance in hell we give Kadri and the 5th overall pick for a guy with a country mile still left on his deal that pays him over 5 million and he's on the wrong side of 30.
That would be 10000 times more asinine then the Kessel deal. |

Also, the Canucks don't have to trade Luongo
even if he didn't ask for a trade, if they have to match an offer sheet for schneider, then they could have significant resources capwise in their goalies. last years compensation for restricteds
$1,567,043 -- $3,134,055: Second-round pick
$3,134,088 -- $4,701,131: First and third-round pick
$4,701,131 -- $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick
what if someone who needs a goalie offers schneider a 5 year 4.7 million dollar contract. I'd give up a first abd a third. hell... a vancouver rival knowing the situation could offer him a 5 year 6 million dollar deal and only loose 1,2,3. worth it for a young future number 1 goalie. can van really afford to spend 10-11 million on just their goalies? |

Nope. Sorry bud, you don't get the goalie with the best career save % in the NHL over longer than anyone else in the league for nothing.
Its the 1st and Schenn or Gardiner.
BOOK IT!! - vancitydan
What would be cool is if Schnieder gets Offer sheeted, say 5 years at 25 M..Van would match and have 12 Mill plus tied up in two goalies for the next 5 years. Say, want Komi now???

Yes...and I can see that happening.
But I don't think any deal goes down until at least the first half of the 1st round of the draft is over. Maybe even the entire 1st round. |

Luongo, Ballard, and Raymond for the rights to Franson, Kulemin, and Komi. Canucks then bury Komi in the minors. |

Then Pressbox Ballard is sent down to the Chicago Wolves and we use his 4.2M until we fnd the right suitor for LU. |

Future Hall of Fame goalie? Based on what? A Jennings trophy and a Clarence Campbell Cup? He's good yes but he hasn't earned Hall of Fame mention consideration yet. - Kinger34
Dale Hawerchuk, Mats Sundin, Mike Gartner and Adam Oates never won a cup. Luongo has been in the Vezina conversation for ten freaking years. Name a goalie other than Roy who's been more consistent. Tell me? He's a hall of famer and he's got another seven years left.

They would match anything for Schneider but I believe the situation will be resolved before July 1st.

I'll use small words for the head injured Leaf fan here. I hope you get better son.
Simply, you can't just say something and hope its true.
There are 25 teams that have a lesser guy in the goal.
Even if you go down to the folks that should be interested, to say NO ONE is just stupid.
So there is a market. He has plenty of value, and if the Leafs want him, they will have to step up, or not.
Go ahead with Reimer as the starter and see how that goes. Or sign Vokoun...in a year the GM needs to succeed or be gone.
Hell, go for a Lindback...he is a good young goalie. Bernier too.
With Timmy taking the year off, its the Leafs that have NO LEVERAGE ( used capitals so you would understand thats important young man ) if they want an ACE veteran goalie that will literally guarantee the playoffs.
Sorry little man. - vancitydan
Seeing as we're comparing the totality of his history how many years was he in the playoffs before he got to Vancity? Since he will literally guarantee the playoffs I have to think he has a Lindstrom type record to go along with his years played.
Everyone knows you don't become an ACE when you're a veteran...so his past must be pretty spectacular. A Stanley Cup....multiple Vez's as well as a probable Con Smyth must be in there somewhere.....hell, I'll even give you Tim Thomas as the exception to the rule you might come back at me with.

easy to type about burying 4.2 million in the minors when your not the one flushing your money down the terlit
I'm the owner of the nucks.. the gm comes and says "hey, can I trade this one goalie for an asset, albiet a small one and match this offer for schneider? or can I take 4.2 million of your dollars and wipe my crack with it instead?" mmmnnnnnn |

That's likely close, although I'd rather not do it...thats a long expensive contract to take and we have a few goalies who could possibly be starters in the future and by trading for a 10 year contract, you're basically giving them a big "(frank) you"
Also, Kulemin has had some ups and downs, but he's our only two-way top six guy with size. We need to keep him unless we're getting something similar back. |
