really, so having periods in a contract when it a no-trade is lifted is not legal? hmm....
- golfingsince

How does this benefit the new team if his NTC does not travel with his contract(?)

You mad bro? You mad that you trolled and have nothing to fight back? Constant trolling is probably against the coc also by the way.

Actually no one was debating it... that wasn't even my initial point... I was just saying... aside from maybe 1-2 years... since I've been a "real" canucks fan... I've been very happy with the level of quality this team has brought... especially since Lu has been around. I've been a ice pak ticket holder since the year before the lock out... and although I remember bits and pieces of the mid 90s.. I didn't become a true fan until about the 98-99 season.

I've enjoyed the hockey... it was nice seeing this teams first presidents trophy win... art ross winner.... I know its not a cup... but it was still a nice thing to witness.

So I base the canucks success during the time I've been a fan... not their entire exsistence in the league.. as I wasnt even alive for a lot of it, let alone a fan.

But I digress... this started by me pointing out Lu would put TO into the playoffs... and possibly more if you give it a couple years and add some more pieces... but one fan thought it was better to miss the playoffs AGAIN.. as if missing 8 times wasn't enough.

- kneughter

You have every right to be happy as a Canucks fan, and overall, I think you should be.

Only 1 team wins every year, so the best scenario you can hope for is to consistently be a contender. The Cauncks have been a contender for a while now.

They have delivered value to their fans overall I think.

Here's your warning.

Drop the smart ass remarks. Drop the trolling and drop the "they don't understand, they're xxx fans".

Next bit of trolling I will begin the fun part of wearing stripes. That includes posting anything trollish, even if your name and avatar are trolling.

With most fan bases we don't have to, but some are more thick-headed than others.
- golfingsince

More to do with your obsession with the Leafs than anything else. That's the pathetic part of it all - even when you have a good team you obsess about the Leafs who everyone acknowledges aren't a good one. That's why the idea of him going to the Leafs for practically nothing makes guys like Vantel foam at the mouth and why Leaf fans who don't really care about Luongo all that much enjoy the spectacle.

Keep it boys - you are playing true to form

Edit. - oops re warning above

You do realize you are asking for 1/2 of the President Trophy teams MVP and and you want to give us a bottom 5 team reject player.

And this is fair how?

When was anyone here provoking any canucks fans by trolling? It's laughable that even though you guys feel your team is better than the leafs (which they are), you fans still have this inferiority complex with us.

It's like you guys are the annoying know-it-all in the class of teams, telling anyone in range all your useless facts that amount to nothing ("President's Trophy!") expecting us to care.

You mean like saying he *might be* washed up in 4 years.

I'm pretty sure fans of the 29 other teams in the league can all agree we can do without the 'reality' lectures from leaf fans.

- golfingsince

I am equally sure that they are more than happy to have a somewhat dim-witted troll speaking for them.

By the way, you do realize that the Canucks fan base is worst here and the Canucks are the most hated team right?

He probably meant it because he wants more high draft picks. There isn't a leafs fan out there actually wants to miss the playoffs, but it's the only way to get this ridiculous franchise to draft properly...even that is a challenge.

Nope...you just have nothing better to do then harp on Toronto for a reason you probably dont even know what it is.

You know juice, part of being a ref is being impartial. It's not like we're coming into a Leafs thread and bashing, or vice versa. If you want to point out my trolling, perhaps you should do the same for Leaf fans.

Komisarek is a throw in for cap, which from any team you would have to take because of the length of the contract.

My offer (adding in D'Amigo and a 3rd) is actually alright, maybe undervalued, but why wouldnt I, i want my team to come out on top of the trade.

D'Amigo is a good prospect, and a 3rd is a good chip that you guys could deal for a good vet player at the deadline

The NTC goes with Luongo.... some NTCs have the option of the team getting the player to drop the clause, which most teams dont.
- cor99

Thus the (?).

Oh well, I guess my original arguement holds.

The NTC is NOT the limiting factor. It is age + hit + talent + remaining term that makes the contract difficult to take on.

This is apparent to EVERYONE except Canucks fans.

By the way, as soon as he is traded, those same Canucks fans will be on here laughing about how the new team got fleeced and how Gillis is a genius for being able to dump the contract.

Are you sure ? In that case if Lu is asked to drop his NTC why would it go with him if he has already dropped it.

I actually liked that offer, since D'Amigo stepped up his game considerably this year to fit himself into the AHL. The 3rd is just that typical pick you'd throw in, and komi goes since we can't just take on Lu's contract with no repercussions. I would say komi or lombo are just interchangeable big contracts.

but martin played the whole year... as a top 4 d-man. .8 mil isnt all that much in todays nhl, unfortunately. and martin has history of being selected for the usa olympic team, before injuries. and i still dont think he (or ballard) are worth a team giving up an asset for, not when the cap looms so large. plus, your trade is basically what I already said. how bout ballard +4th for a 6th?
- ChrisMS

And Martin didn't do a great job.

Ballard wasn't given the opportunity because he refused to play the right side and rubbed AV the wrong way. Who knows how well he would've done if AV wasn't such an @ss.

Ballard played pretty well when he returned from injury. As I said Edler and Hamhuis are ahead on the depth chart for LH D, but Ballard could step into the top4 on a number of rosters, and be an improvement.

There are enough GMs who can see that the situation Ballard was in with AV is one of the main reasons for him being on the bottom pairing. Those Gm's may not be willing to give up anything of value, but for a 6th rounder, I'm sure a few would consider it.

If the Canucks were desperate for space and had to throw in a late pick, I would be ok with it.

Luo waives to go to Toronto (AN EXAMPLE LOL)

Toronto if in Luo's contract has the option of wiping away the NTC completely.

This happened when Jeff Carter was dealt to Columbus from LA

If I get banned, so be it. I'm just not in the mood to deal with trolls, and not really bright ones at that.
