That's one problem... the other is that CLB gets ripped off. - burn
Yeah well it wont be just Luongo, obviously they have to add a lot more |

Well Nonis believes Lu is the best goalie in the NHL... and Yzerman picked Lu to be a potential starter for the Olympics.
Burke needs to make a move to get TO into the playoffs... and this deal could be the one to do it.
Lu is seen around the league by GM's as an elite goaltender who is in the discussion for vezina pretty much every year he has been in the league. Those types of goalies do not grow on trees.
I don't think TO has had a goalie of Lu's calibre in what... 40 years? If ever... and they want to get him for Komi and a 2nd? Cool... - kneughter
I promise you some team during the next season will come to Gillis with a decent proposal even if before TDL . I doubt it will be the Leafs because they have not made a decent trade proposal in years so why should I expect them to start now. Lu will be playing elsewhere. |

Option 3 : Canucks keep luongo who only stated that if he was going to be traded he would pick these 5 teams he never said he wanted to go for sure. Besides I'd rather keep luongo as a back up then help the leafs - pker2theend
Lets be realistic... you keep Luongo, you say goodbye to Schneider. You have Alienated your star goalie...the Canucks franked this up good.
To be honest...you should trade Schneider as part of a deal for Nash...Simple.
Canucks have a window of opportunity, Schneider will command at least 3.5+ for say $4-5 years... subtract that from Nash's contract and you pretty much get Nash for 4-5 Mil per season and is there for most of the Sedin's, and Luongo's contract. Gives you a good 4-5 year run at the cup.

Phaneuf for Luongo.
Sign Suter and Schultz. - ejeezy
I would love that, but for a dman Phaneuf's age vs. the retarded Luongo contract, I think the Canucks would have to throw something else in.

Haven't made a decent proposal in years? Are you talking about the fan base or the organization? What a silly claim.
The Canucks should man up and trade Schneider for a nice return, if Luongo is so great. |

To NYI: Luongo + draft pick
To Vancouver: 7th rounder
I would rather make that deal then Luongo for Komi
If the Nucks really can't get anymore then Komisarek, I say they should trade Schneider and get a decent player out of it.

Ya... you guys will be fine with Reimer and The monster.
Or Scrivens... they are all studs... 3 AHL goalie cycle has worked wonders for you guys already.
I'm sure you wont mind another few years of no playoffs... |

Its not impossible to believe... if Gillis isn't happy with the deals available... why rush it... cap wise it wont be a problem. And Lu is a professional and will be motivated to prove his worth. |

... that actually would not surprise me.
Vancouver holds him until an injury hits later in the season and some playoff team gets desparate...
If Gillis can't get the return he wants, this actually might be the outcome. |

I could see as a Toronto fan how you might think it would better to just not make the playoffs for 8 years than make it to game 7 of the finals or the first round of the playoffs for that matter.
Let me guess.... both teams have the same amount of cups in that span? So there is no difference...
God I love TO fans.... LOVE |

Not only do you want him, but you figure you should get to dump all your bad contracts in the deal and give up nothing of significance. Like a big magic eraser for all your problems. Good luck with that. |

They would probably like to have the cap space to make some moves and bring in new talent to help them build a stronger playoff team... In my opinion
Luongo will be one unhappy camper on the bench until the deadline...
Wont happen |
