Do you mean Burke ,the manager who caleed Lowe a scumbag for making an offer sheet, the one that challenged him to a barn fight ,would consider making an offer sheet? - VANTEL
Yup, if you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't need to ask. But what else should we expect? |

kk lets get this straight, our 1st rounders or colborne, kadri, mckegg, ross, percy, blacker, frattin, ashton, damigo will not be traded to vancouver in any deal for luongo.
Second if we are trading for luongo, it will be komisarek+, perhaps a mid pick or a mid prospect. And no the leafs will not expand the deal into something bigger cause we do not need raymond.

The teams that I listed are far from contenders, so I think they would worry about their own situation before they would even give a thought to trying to mess with Van's problems.
And I think a few of them would take a flyer on Martin. That's how valuable veteran D are in today's NHL.
That being said, Ballard and Martin aren't the best comparison. Ballard is a physical offensive D, who makes 800,000 less than Martin a season, for the same term, whereas Martin is a defensive D. It depends what each team needs.
At the very worst, van throws in a 2013 4th-6th rounder to sweeten the pot. Veteran D are a commodity, and Ballard could still be worth it for a team who needs just that, especially when the cost is low. - Fosco
but martin played the whole year... as a top 4 d-man. .8 mil isnt all that much in todays nhl, unfortunately. and martin has history of being selected for the usa olympic team, before injuries. and i still dont think he (or ballard) are worth a team giving up an asset for, not when the cap looms so large. plus, your trade is basically what I already said. how bout ballard +4th for a 6th?

Not in this lifetime, once you paint yourself in a corner and your name is Brian Burke, that's about it on that subject, no going back from there.
RFA sheet is pretty much a joke anyways the way it's used.

I would have paid a large sum of money to watch that.
Call me a homer... but I have a feeling Lowe would have ripped his face off.

if any of those players are involved or our first rounders, id rather not do any deal and just not make the playoffs next year. I could care less at this point. |

Making the playoffs is something our franchise needs very badly, not for the fans but for the maturing and learning process of the young players.

Burke would have brought brass knuckles, and hid a baseball bat in the haystack inside the barn. |

I dont think its wise to handcuff your own team cause of how you want things to be. - robin_steele264
Burke never backs down, His ego is something of an anomoly, anything he has quoted on you can bank he will never do in his tenure, He has done a great job with the farm team, now would be ideal to flip him on his rear end and bring someone new in. |

No no, not saying burke would put an offer sheet together. Just meant that if Van were willing to walk away from a $4mil+ offer sheet from any other team wanting a good young goalie, then maybe they don't hold him as highly as I thought. That being the case, maybe a trade could be worked out. |

I love how 2 months ago, Canucks fans were ripping on Luongo. Now that hes going to get traded, they are praising him up to try and convince others that they will get something for him.
Considering the list that Luo would waive to contained 5 teams.
Chicago I doubt would be interested, I think they will give Crawford another chance.
Tampa Bay has already come out and say they aren't interested, and that they will look at FA and the draft for a young goalie.
New Jersey wont be looking yet as Marty has came out and said he doesn't see himself retiring after this season
Flordia is a possibility, but I doubt they need Luongo as they have Markstrom coming up, and Theodore had a solid season this year.
Then Toronto, who is in need of a true starting goalie.
The MOST i see going to the Nucks is something like:
Jerry D'Amigo, Mike Komisarek and a 3rd Round Pick |

The thing we have to remember about Komi is that he gets to submit a new list to BB as of draft day.
Surely he thinks he's in any LU deal, so it really boils down to whether he wants to add VAN to his list and facilitate that deal. |

No need he is not coming here and Lu is not going there .It is pointless to put it on his list. |

You are correct. Komi is the real reason Lu wants to come to Toronto. |

VAN isn't sending LU to a conference rival, the pricetag would be too high. If the hawks want a legit tender then Pat Kane will be part of it.
Tampa Bay has already come out and say they aren't interested, and that they will look at FA and the draft for a young goalie.
Vokoun will go to TB. He only signed on with WSH for one year as he wanted to control his medium-long term future. He'll go back to FLA as he'll get a chance to win there
New Jersey wont be looking yet as Marty has came out and said he doesn't see himself retiring after this season
Goaltending is something they'll have to worry about eventually. Interesting to see if ZACH stays after this cup run

Terrible underpayment. I know BB is in a position of strength, but he'll have to give up more.

Who asks for a trade publicly??? Publicly, he said he'd be willing to accept a trade. Behind the scenes, it is widely known he asked to be moved. - Phenom
Thanks for that behind the scenes insight. You should have your own website. |
