those are both poop deals. komi and connolly hold no value at all. - tomburton99
Yes, I agree, they are. Know why? Because any deal for Luongo will be a poop deal. |

Hes no tim thomas....
But he said if the team went a different direction he would accept a trade... I'm positive Gillis is shopping him.. and there is probably a 90 percent chance that come October Lu is gone.
But if the only deal out there is Komi and a 2nd/3rd... then Gillis will hold onto him... and he better hold onto him if thats the case. - kneughter
Maybe Luongo should take a year off. |

Are you sure? It defeats the purpose of trading a 33-year-old with 10 years left on his deal at a $5.3 million cap hit for a player with 1 or 2 years left on his deal at a $4.5 million cap hit. That's what you're saying? - Phenom
Yes...we are in a window of opportunity to win with the twins being in their prime. It's not as black and white as you make it seem, a lot of factors play into the decision. Wasting $4.5 million dollars when you're trying to win the Cup is poor management! They've got that much wasted on Ballard, who is a good player but doesn't fit into AV's system and he doesn't play the right side very well. |

So what do you suggest if there is no 'fair' offer out there? Keep him and ride both goalies, see if you can win a Cup with the current squad, then trade him in a year or two??? |

I think the Luongo trade will involve a team not discussed as of yet. I could see a few moving parts in all this. I don't count out Tampa, as I think Yzerman is posturing. And the notion that the Leafs will dump a bad contract on Canucks and get Luongo (basically a win-win for Tor) was something first pushed by Darren Dreger, Nonis' cousin. Dreger throws up trial balloons for the Leafs all the time, least informative "insider" on tsn.
Gillis' first concern is getting Schneider signed long term, then he can be patient with the Luongo situation...the Gillis' team is pretty good on keeping things quiet (no one rumored the Booth or Hodgson trades ahead of time) so I don't put stock in any of the rumors to this point. It'll be something no one expected, I'll bet. - k

Missing the point Tom - Canada Cup
I think the leafs would be better off going after Vokoun in the first place. I doubt Gillis is gonna want any combo of Komi, Connolly or Armstrong in return for a vezina trophy winning goalie. And if i were Burke, the deal is over if the nucks ask for Lupul, Schenn or Frnason. |

I wouldn't put it past them, but no I don't see that happening. In my opinion they'd be better off trading him to the NYI or Columbus for a 2nd round pick than taking bad salary back when you've got a very good opportunity to win. Providing of course, that he's will to go to those places.
If Dale Tallon said, "look Mike, I'll take him off your hands for a 2nd round pick and Theodore. We can groom Markstrom and get great goaltending while we're doing it...deal". I think he'd do that. |

He was nominated a few times but the Eastern bias gave it to Brodeur, should have won in 2007. |

If we're ruling out lottery/terrible teams, that means Columbus-Toronto-NYI-Montreal-Edmonton are all out of it then? - LeftCoaster
That's not why I ruled out CLB... But sure. |

Yes, they might be better off doing that, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT Luongo will not waive to go to either of those teams.
Tallon would not make a bonehead move like that. Markstrom should be ready if not next season, the season after. Why commit yourself to Luongo's contract when you have that waiting in the wings?

I wouldn't do that deal... Edler is better than JJ... Booth is pretty much Nash lite... because I dont want to pay a guy 7.5 million to score 40 goales and get 60 points. He is extremely one dimensional.. and doesn't even play phsyical for his size.
The 2 1sts is a little weird.. but from a player for player standpoint... I wouldn't do it. Nash is beyond overrated... - kneughter

Luongo, Komisarek, Draft picks, contract, cap hit, good deal, bad deal, Schenn, Luongo, 33 year old goalie, 10 years left, reasonable cap hit, save %, LUONGO.

Salary cap floor, a lot depends on the new CBA. Thanks for debating in a respectful way! |

If that's all that's on the table from Toronto Im happier keeping Lou and watching the leafs miss the playoffs probably 8 or 9years out of those 10 Lou is signed for |
