Grigorenko is shaky due to character. I'll forgive his playoff numbers because of mono but he was inconsistent during the season and may not be able to handle TOR Forsberg had enough character top play with grown men at age 17
Galychenyuk just had major reconstructive knee surgery. So he may be the caliber we need, but he's still a major question mark
I say go with the Swedes. - AngryWhiteMale
Grigorenko had enough maturity to leave his home and play in a different country at the age of 17 or 18. Something to be said for that. |

You'll probably see a multi-player deal with Luongo, Gillis has said we need to change things around here. Maybe he can do it all in one shot?
To Columbus; Luongo, Edler and Booth (13 mil approx)
To Vancouver; Johnson, Nash and the 29th and 30th picks. (12 mil approx)
Everyones happy!! - LeftCoaster
They have those? |

Boston had Tim Thomas backing up Rask two years ago, why not? - LeftCoaster
Have you seen the size of Luongo's contract? I'd rather trade for Thomas or sign Vokoun for 2 years

aaron johnson? certainly not J johnson, other wise it would be absurd - ChrisMS
Of course he meant Jack Johnson. He's a Canucks fan......still thinks they'll get anywhere close to equal value for Luongo. |

It was just an example of a multi-player deal, this is the internet. One persons version of real is totally different from another. But I can find you SEVERAL trades that have been done in the past that no one would have suggested. Anythings possible!! |

Id understand that if you thought TO had absolutely no chance of competing for a cup within the next 6 years.
Cause thats what you are getting from Lu... very capable (solid) goaltending for 5-6 years.
You could get 2-3 years from Vokoun max... and maybe 2 years from Thomas. Lu triples that time frame. |

Except Luongo who has a NMC and can say where he wants to go. I doubt Columbus is on his list. |

He has a NTC not a NMC, you don't know where he'll accept to go and neither do I. |

That's assuming that Luongo remains as capable as he is today, 5-6 years from now - statistically speaking, that would be a bad assumption to make.
We have two good goalie prospects in the wings - one of whom was the AHL goaltender of the year - so considering how young this team is, we only need 2-3 years from a veteran goalie (if that) |

Burke and Nonis will take on this contract only at a low price.
Otherwise Luongo can stay in Vancouver.
I can't see why anyone in Vancouver wouldn't be able to comprehend the situation Gillis is in there? |

Fair enough... but I think the safer bet would to assume Lu would sustain that level of play compared to assuming that the 2 goalie prospects can make an equal contribution.
Both gambles... |

And there are maybe 1 offer sheet once every couple years (if that)... if stamkos didn't get offered sheet over like a 3 month period... I can't imagine CS getting one. - kneughter
I would think CS is more likely to receive one given VANs situation. Teams would have to give up less than a potential Stamkos offer sheet and there was no way in hell TB wasn't matching it.

agreed. In less they take a bag of pucks in 5 mil salary they keep Luongo, i think thats how it will turn out because no one wants him. Im not even sure teams would trade a 2nd round pick for him. |

lol it's funny how quick people are to just poop all over a young player, especially after a sophomore season, and act as if that performance is indicative of their potential - Nastradamus
How much better were Steve Mason's numbers over Reimer's in his first year? Now how good were his numbers in his second/third year?

Unless you are a fellow GM in the league... you are just making a broad assumption... its also safe to assume there is a lot of interest for Lu.. as its been stated by other people in the media... doesn't make it any more true than your statement. |

If we're ruling out lottery/terrible teams, that means Columbus-Toronto-NYI-Montreal-Edmonton are all out of it then? |

I don't know, but Reimer didn't do too well this past year, in large part due to a neck injury he sustained early on

Exactly.....Canuck fans please please please understand how tied Gillis' hands are in this situation. You WILL NOT get fair value for Luongo if he gets dealt. PLAIN and SIMPLE. |

keep dreamin sunshine, I know you'd like that to be true. But Gillis has said he's taken calls on him already, so teams are interested. |
