Micah has given me warnings, but I've seen how the guy can act. It's a bit much at time with how he does it.

A team needing a veteran D will still give up a 4th-6th rounder for him, if the Canucks get desperate for cap-space.
if a team would give that up for him, they'd have done it already. sorry charlie... with the cap... teams not only want to get themselves better, but also have a vested interest in hamstringing other teams. teams wont take ballard just so he remains a nucks problem. im a pens fan, and I feel the dame about martin... teams wont take him unless we give up an asset, because having him makes us a worse team. also... the statements about east/west bias... lidstrom/ detroit play in the western conf. the best players win... period - ChrisMS
Did you ever think that the Canucks haven't given up on him yet? Gillis gave up quite a bit to get him, and would be admitting a pretty big blunder by unloading him for that little; but, if/when he did make him available for that little, there would be a suitor.
As I said, if the Canucks desperately need the cap-space they will make him available for peanuts, and a team needing a veteran top4 D will take him.
Pretty sure the Oilers would take a flyer on Ballard for a 6th rounder. |

Ek is simply reflecting what more and more people are saying -- return for Lu won't be great an Toronto is a likely destination. Canucks dug themselves a deep hole thru combo of long term deal and then disrespecting the guy. He clearly wants out and wants to restore his name. Going to Clb won't do that. Going to TO and leading Leafs to ply-offs would.
Leaf fans aren't excited about the deal because of contract. Canuck fans don't want to accept the fact that they won't get much. Getting back TO garbage makes them crazy.

teams wont take him for peanuts unless they need to get to cap floor. he couldn't make the bottom pairing for 4.2 million. it would cost assets for gillis to be rid of him maybe ballard and a 4th for a 7th. sorry bro... teams would rather let the nucks lay in the bed they made. if gillis could have traded ballard prior and used that space to improve the teams chances at the cup and didnt out of pride.... nucks fans have some big big problems at the helm |

I love this hole the Canucks are digging. First of all, they will get a player that can help them now for Luongo. Secondly, it allows our young potential franchise goalie to be the starter, while letting the best goalie in the AHL continue to develop. Not to mention a hobey baker finalist that we drafted and just signed. |

A team like the Ducks could take him for a 6 th rounder. They have 25 mil and a horrible D. |

For whoever suggested Nash for Lu, Kesler and 1st... WOW... just take a look at Nash stats... for a guy who makes that kind of money... he better create much more on his own. The guy is the most overrated forward in the game.
And why are people having such a tough time understanding that there is NO chance Lu is playing out the last 3-4 years of his deal. He is one of the most competetive guys in hockey... and will not stick around to make a million dollars a year as a back up. He would rather take his 58 million he has already been paid and spend time with his family. Heck... he would probably make more money being a goalie coach or something that involves much less commitment.
He was discussing being closer to his family and spending more time in the off season with them like his first year in Van.. hes italian... and its obvious family is extremely important to him. He will retire the MINUTE he feels he isn't playing at the level he wants to be OR he starts making 1 million a year and the money can't justify the committment neccessary at that point in his career.
It was a deliberate cap circumventing deal that the minute it was signed other GM's were up in arms because they knew Lu wasn't playing past 40... the contract was almost nixed because of all the allegations of "prior understandings" |

1 million dollars a year doesn't justify the commitment? What... is everyone on this sight a BILLIONAIRE. "oh, its just a million dollars, I don't need to be payed only one million dollars to play a game I love... not me, no sir" BBLUURTETE... that was the sound of my rectum expelling gas |
