The draft year wasnt strong? Ill tell you right now, if the Flyers said JvR was for sale.. 29 teams would be buying.

Draft was pretty strong. Kane, Mcdonagh, Alzner, Gagner, Voracek, Couture all off the top of my head.

JVr's new contract is for next Season. JVR has not played a single game under that contract. If he comes out and plays the way he's capable of, and how he was playing before the injuries ruined his Season, he will be well worth the contract extension. I think it is only fair to let him play at least a few games under the deal before labeling a bad deal at the moment.

JvR imo is the best trading chip the Flyers have right now. If they want to acquire a legit defenseman it will cost JvR.

I posted the # 2 picks in the last nine drafts. JVR has significantly less value than every player drafted in that slot.

What's that tell you?

- PLindbergh31

It tells me zilch. First of all because you can't quantify that in any matter. And secondly, the value of the other players has nothing to do with JVR's value around the League.

It can't be quantified? Interesting. Flyers had the worst record of any team of the past 9 years, and somehow they came away with the player with the least current value. Pretty hard to do, but they found a way.

I can say this without watching him play one game under that contract and it's this, the Flyers have given up on plenty of young talent and watched them go onto other teams to blossom. JVR has done nothing to show us he won't progress either.

Okay, so quantify the value of each of the players you listed, including JVR. Can't wait to see this.

Unfortunately, all of the other players you listed, weren't available to be picked in that spot that the Flyers drafted JVR. LOL

As I said, I believe he can be a consistent 25-30 goal scorer. He has to stay healthy and prove it now.

Well it seems like you are up in arms or not happy about something with his contract, if so I don't see why if that is your belief.

Logan Couture was available to be picked when the Flyers selected JVR, as was Ryan Mcdonagh. Perhaps the Flyers should trade JVR straight up for either player.

Nothing to do with your previous premise. You've stated that JVR has little value and all the other players you listed picked 2nd have more value. I'm waiting for you to quantify and assign a value to those players.

This is really a question that shouldn't need answering. But some of those players picked 2nd overall have played how many Seasons in the League? So how could that comparison be on equal ground?

Every player has value and that value is determined by what a team is willing to offer. Value can be changed with each team, imo.

I'd rather have either of those guys than Kane too so what's that saying?

Ok I'm a fun guy, I'll play along.

# 2 picks from 2008 to current:

2008 Drew Doughty
2009 Victor Hedman
2010 Tyler Seguin
2011 Gabriel Landeskog

Just a hunch, I think all these guys currently have more value than JVR does.

I guess it says Kane and his 369 points over 5 years (74 points a season) and his GWG in the Cup Finals is a bust.

I'm sure they do, but that means that JVR doesn't have much value then? But you said the last 9 Seasons. Why now only from 08? And because they might have more value does that mean that JVR is not going to be a quality player in the future, or live up to his contrat? But there is this overall negative theme in your posts about everything. And your making ridiculous comparisons between players who have played 6-7-8 years in the League to JVR who has played 3 Seasons.

From 08 because JVR was drafted in 07 right? So the players I listed all have less NHL time than JVR correct?
